My parts came in the mail so I’m about to start a saiga 12 conversion. I’ve never done it before so if anyone has any tips I would appreciate it. I’m gonna try to use this thread to document the progress as I go. Wish me luck. I’ve watched countless videos and read a number of articles so I think it won’t be that bad.

I converted mine several years ago, and it wasn't difficult. I kept the Bolt Hold Open, and radiusing the tab so it didn't rub on my finger is about the only thing I remember... it was painless.

I had never had any kind of AK and converted my Saiga 12 without any trouble. It’s still the only AK I’ve ever had or fired, it sure is fun though! The MD20 drums are great, BTW.

I started to do the conversion late last night. Everything was going great, rivets drilled out nicely, FCG, trigger gauge removed, I ran into a problem trying to use the original bolt hold open lever without modifying it. Couldn’t get the saftey lever back in, so I went to bed and I’ll try to get it together tomorrow after I modify the BHO lever.

Ok. After taking the time to modify the BHO lever. I got everything together and functional. Only tho g left is to decide which muzzle device I’m going to use.
