I just got back from the range and was cleaning my P226 when I noticed that my slide right where the guide rod is has a chip out of it. I called Sig and they are going to replace my whole slide, but they are replacing it with a Tacops slide and this particular P226 is a Blackwater. Apparently they don’t have a Blackwater slide to send me, which sucks.

Has anyone else had/seen this issues?

I have had several Sigs since 1990 , and I have Never seen anything like this.
I do know Sig does not make the 226 in the Blackwater model .
I have never had any trouble with sigs Customer service .

The guy I’ve been communicating with has been great so far.
Are you sure that isnt a bushing? Never seen the problem b4.
Sig cx thinks it could be a heat treat issue.

I’m a member of the Silver Creek Conservation Club right off 160.

How old is thje P226? That might be one of the old folded sheet metal slides.
I believe the Blackwaters were made around 2010.

Nope, not a carbon folded steel slide. I own 13 Sigs currently and the majority of them are German/W. German made. I shy away from the US made ones since the sleazeball Cohen got his greasy hands on the company. QC went downhill fast since he was more concerned about the profit margin vs. quality.

Apparently this is normal and I wanted to update in case anyone else had this “problem”.

From the Sig Sauer gunsmith, “The internal fit and finish of the slide (specifically the area between the barrel and the recoil guide cut) is normal and consistent with 2008 production. Function tested with no malfunctions.”

    Update #2

Just off the phone with a Sig Sauer rep, Mathew Dustin, and he said this is actually a factory cut that they did for a couple of years, which makes the barrel easier to get in and out. He is sending me a couple P229 Legion mags for my trouble.

    Love SIG!
