I don't want to misinterpret any laws, so I'll ask here first.

Is there any part of a gun, rifle specifically, that can not be engraved? Obviously, not altering or removing the serial.

A link in the Good,Bad, and Ugly, has me thinking I can modify any part of my personal firearm. I'm going to have to do more research, but I have some ideas I would like to try.

Engraved for decoration? Personalized? For purposes of making an NFA item?

I modeled these for a guy. They would fit that.

    Tastefully done. Very nice.

Thanks, I broke a sear in it maybe 25-30 years ago. One of the knuckleheads I grew up with was a sales rep with Colt, he said give it to me and I will take it to Camp Perry or the Factory and have it fixed and maybe a Custom shop trigger job. Months and months and months go by and one weekend he hands me one of the Colt Presentation boxes and I opened it and and my GC was now engraved and a awesome trigger. A pistol was apparently needed for a woman engraver at Colt to get to the next level as a test.
    He handed them mine.
The bill was two fifths of VO... If you read this, thanks again Demilt...
