    Hope somebody can help me...
T/C Contender, .44Mag Vent Rib Bbl with INTERNAL CHOKE TUBE.
That choke tube is MIA...Can the Pistol shoot .44 mags w/o it?
Will it ruin the bbl's internal threads if I do?
How does the Internal Choke Tube affect .44 mag bullets?
My understanding(I could be wrong) is that the choke tube was for the .44mag Hotshot Shells.
Is there some kind on screw in tube you use on bullets?
    WHEW! TIA!

    That does not sound right.

A barrel for a centerfire pistol round should NOT have any type of choke tube.

Choke tubes are for shotgun rounds only.

    This still makes zero sense.

    Numrichs description.
    THOMPSON CENTERCONTENDER PISTOL
Item No. 1046680 Choke Tube, .44 Cal., Internal
    Retail Price: $20.95

Again, I don't know what they are trying to sell, but that IS NOT for a centerfire pistol barrel.

Are you looking for a 44mag barrel for your T/C contender?

No, not looking to buy a barrel, but I think we need to buy something to screw into this barrel.
A "friend of a friend" is an older gentleman that has a T/C Contender with a .44Mag barrel, but he has lost the ChokeTube and wrench.
(I bet they are together, but I don't think they could ever be found amongst all his "treasures")
The old feller bought this gun new maybe 40 years ago...He just wanted to "get her out and ready to go" and we've hit this snag.
I've seen the barrel. It's an honest to Gawd Thompson Center 44mag with a vent rib on top, a flip DOWN rear sight, a post up front and the prettiest internal threads inside the muzzle you'd ever want to see.

34oSc although I'm a contender fan I never dealt with any of the combination barrels. Contact ED at the provided link for the straight poop.

1st off, many thanks to bigcraig and old syco for helping me get answers!

Talked with 'Ed' and others and discovered this is indeed an internal choke.
I have ordered one from 'Ed'- $12 for the choke and $5 for the wrench.
This particular bbl shoots .44 Mag bullets without the choke and NOTHING protecting the threads.
The choke goes in when you shoot .44 HOTSHOT shells.
Supposedly the choke is "rifled" straight- it cancells the shot capsule's spin and shreds the capsule to release the shot pellets.

I just think it's really cool this old guy has had this gun all these years, and that he bought it because Dirty Harry said it was "the most powerful handgun in the world"! He's got most of a box of WW 240gr softpoints and a full box of .44 Mag Hotshots. We're gonna shoot some of the shotshells when the choke comes in. Oughta be a hoot!

    THANKS for everybody's help!
