Can't decide for my first Pistol. Held the 92 and love it alot. I've held many varietes of 1911's from a GI Springfield to a compact Kimber and Kimber eclipse,Para double stack and so on. Love 1911's.
Can't decide for my first pistol which I will also carry.
1911. Cant go wrong with one of these and i think they look better, shoot better than a 92fs. The beretta is still a good gun, i just prefer a 1911 in 45acp
The 92FS is a great pistol, but it's a large gun. If you are considering CC, it would not make an ideal carry pistol. The slimmer1911 is a lot easier to conceal than the 92.
Either gun you could not go wrong with as both are excellent pistols.
My initial reaction is to go for the 1911. However, if it's a caliber thing (9mm 92FS vs. .45 1911), that may change things. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go with the less expensive caliber, since this is your first handgun and you'll want to get plenty of practice in.
Both are great pistols but if you are going to be carrying, then a compack Colt or Kimber 1911 conceals much better. A Beretta 92 only comes in one size, big.
Atleast your picking both guns that Are great I would go with the 1911. Eventhough it is your first and your gonna want to do some plinking the 45 is easier to carry as what most have already said the 92 is a big boy
i carried the 92 while in the service or rather the army's version of it anyways and i found that while it was a decent service weapon, it was the best to carry "IMHO" I would think that would really depend on what type of shooting you plan to use the sidearm for and how you intend to carry it wither it be CC or OC.
Tough call...both are great guns...92 is just a fuzz bigger than the 1911(read fractions of an inch)............I agree with others that the 1911 can be had in compact versions for EDC,while the 92 can't......practice ammo for the 92 is less expensive.................I'm not really helping things here am I?..........It's your gun, weigh the options and go with the one that best fits your needs(wants) and your hands.......good luck!
I just got a 92FS the other day and I think it carries well. I'm 5'6" 120ish and I can conceal it enough to where the hospital security standing behind me at IU Health didn't even notice; I also passed him a couple times. It's also cheaper to shoot than the 45, less recoil which = more control and target acquisition during rapid fire. Of course this is my opinion.
