Keep snooping arond and you should be able to land a used 226 for a little over $500....about the same as a new Glock or XD.

If you're truly budget-minded, however....Bersa is hands-down the best bang for the buck.

It would really help if you'd provide INGO with what you consider "Budget"...

An $800 Sig is out, obviously... But is $600 your budget? $500? $400?

You can stick with Sig and get an SP2022 for around $400. I have it and love it. If you want something a little smaller, I just got the Ruger SR9c and it has been good. I've also heard great things about the FNP/FNX 9...

The Sig PRO 2022 is an awesome gun. I got to shoot one this weekend and fell in love with it all over again. :D

There are a couple of other options out there:

    1. Glock - 19 or 26...make great 9mm pistols. With G-26, you can use a G-19 mag and put an A&G Grip Spacer on it...gives you a full-sized grip!

    2. Ruger's new SR9 and SR9c...a friend of mine has one...great little shooter! The little one comes with a 10 (or 12) round mag + a 17 round mag with a grip spacer...gives you a full-sized grip!

    3. Springfield's XD pistols - in 9mm. I've never shot one, but there're out there.

    4. If I had the $$, I would get the Springfield EMP in 9mm...

    Good luck!

M&P 40 with a 9mm barrel as well. Then you get two guns for only slightly more. I went this route and I couldn't be happier.

No HK fan here, huh? A new USP can be had for as low as $699, $718 was my final price, including $15 transfer fee to Beech Grove (they now charge $25 for transfer). I know because, that was the price I paid one year ago. I bought the 45 version but Bud's was selling the 9 for the same price. If 700 is a bit much, I've seen police trade-ins in CDNN's catalog for $400+, with night sights...

Sig Pro 2022, FNP-9. Both can be had south of $450 easy...maybe even below $400. With HK and Sig especially, they seem very proud of their pistols, and you pay for the name on the slide when compared to the M&P or a Glock.

You may want to look at a kahr CW9; should be around $400 or less, depending. The 3rd generation S&Ws are amazing pistols; look at the 3913s, CS9s, even a 908. Someone suggested the Ruger 9s and I agree. Rock Island offers a couple of 1911s in 9mm and they are worth a look, too. Good luck.

Thanks for the info I was trying to stay in that 400-500 range. I'll be looking at the Sig Pro for sure and a few of the others. I'm in no big hurry to get it so i have time to look at the ones listed and see if I can find a used one for sale once I decide

Good- Take your time on the selection. Narrow it down to a smallish number by reading reviews, features, etc. Then go to gun stores/shows and narrow them further by how they feel in your hand. Finally, try and shoot your final candidates as some will likely shoot better for you before laying out any cash. There are a lot of good options out there. No reason to settle for someone else's favorite rather than your own. Good luck.

Love my XD9SC! Picked it up for $460 at Plainfield Shooting Supplies. The only change I had to make was to add a Pearce Extension to the mag for better control.

While some think it a big thick for carry purposes, I actually like it because I have long fingers so it fits my hand better than something more narrow. It has performed flawlessly for over a year and a half now.

I bought a CZ 75 PO7 on Saturday and took it to the range on Sunday. WOW! What an awesome gun to shoot. If you are looking for a 9mm I definitely suggest you at least get one in your hands. It is a DA/SA that can be modified to SAO. It has a decocker and holds 16+1.

For me I like what feels good in my hand & points well ,The CZ-75 has excellent ergonomics to it ,not saying that other pistols dont but it did take awhile for me to warm up to how a Glock felt in my hand (I had a hard time accepting polymers & plastics in guns) but the choice is yours to make
