A while back, I rented a Steyr M-A1 and had a great time shooting it. Smooth action, fairly accurate, good feel in the hand.

However, I haven't heard much about them or seen them around. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I've owned two different M9-A1 pistols in the past.

They're VERY well made and quite robust for a polymer-framed pistol.

It's been said, and I've adopted it, that the Steyr pistols are what Glock wants to be when it grows up.

The ergonomics are fantastic; I believe that they're second only to the Walther P99 (but I've not yet held a new Walther PPQ)

They've just recently started re-importing them, too, so supplies are more abundant now.

It's not nearly as easy to find mags / holster / etc. Pretty much limited to buying mags from the importer (reasonable prices!) and have to scour the 'net for those who have molds for a good holster should you want to carry it.

Many don't like the trapezoidal sights; they do take a bit to get used to. They're not target sights, but they are quick-to-the-eye combat sights. They suffice quite well in that regard.
