Finally brought one home!:rockwoot:Ive always wanted a .357mag. Just for nothing more than just to shoot with at the range. Im looking for a reasonable priced .357mag in like a 4" barrel. Just wondering what I could find i seen a Taurus at a local shop for what seemed to be a very reasonable price it was around 379 for it. Just wanted to know what you guys thought or if there any other places or brands to look at, Thanks!

Only thing I can speak of from personal experience are the Rugers. Like already said, both the GP100 and SP101 are good options... IMO, the GP100 would be the better candidate for use at the range while the SP101 would probably suit your needs better more as a EDC.

If you want a nice in between compromise, don't forget Rugers discontinued Security Six. I have all (3) and while I like them all, my favorite has always been the Security Six.

I've had my Taurus .357 revolver since '87 or so and have been really pleased with it. Performs flawlessly and doesn't care what I feed it. It was my carry piece for many years and I'd recommend one in a heartbeat. Have a S&W, too that's nice, but I'd never turn up my nose at the Taurus.

I have a 686 and 66 smith and wesson. 686 wasn't cheap but worth it to me. Nothing wrong with a ruger. No experience with a taurus but I heard they have a lifetime warranty.

Not a Taurus it is the worst gun made!

I must be the only one on INGO that got a good one. I have Taurus 608 with the 6.5 inch barrel and love it. I have had no issues, but I also bought it in 1999. I would look it over because Taurus has had some quality issues in the last couple of years.

I owned a EAA Windicator that I picked up at a Indy 1500 for $300. Loved everything about it but the grip was rather small and when shooting .357 loads was a little snappy.
I would love to own a GP100. Especially the limited edition Wiley Clapp. Love the wood and rubber grips.

You can usually find a good used stainless Model 66 S&W for about $400-$425. The Ruger GP100 series are a good value. The factory rubber grip on the ruger is pretty well designed and saves you the expense of having to replace the factory grip.

I held a GP100 and it was really nice...the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the cylinder release location. (Although that still wouldn't keep me from getting one!)

I love my GP100, handles recoil great, its built like a tank, looks and feels good. I carry it every once in a while, it's a sweet shooter. Nothing wrong with a S&W either if you can find a deal on one.

Madison outdoors has a couple, he also has a used stainless Ruger Blackhawk in .357 Mag. I talked myself out of that beauty when getting my GSG. Purdy. If you want to shoot a GP100 holler at me sometime.

    Yea I agree:rockwoot: , I may do that. whats a good price for a GP100?

Shew, depends on finish I guess. I have seen them range from $300 to almost $500 and up used. Mine is stainless 4", the stainless guns seem to go for more. Great gun and caliber, althogh .357 isn't cheap. I shoot .38's through it usually, but .357 Mag's do some damage! :patriot:
