How much is involved in building a 1911 from a kit/parts? I have looked at a couple threads but wasn't sure what all I would need. I have a lathe, mill and all the mics and other tooling. Just an idea I have been kicking around. Also anyone know of a place that can do Ferritic nitrocarburizing?

A 1911 will take some time, just go slow and only take little off each time making sure the parts fit. Its not like a AR were you can just slap it together. Each part has to be fitted to the gun for a nice tight functioning weapon. There are several books available that go into great detail about the process, I would look into these first.
