Believe it or not, I just yesterday seen that Taurus and a couple other manufacturers make a 380 in a revolver. Does any one on INGO have one? Are they any good? I wouldn't mind getting one just to paly with at the range. What are your thoughts?

The ONLY reason I could see myself getting one of those is if I were heavily invested in 380 already and reloaded for it. Since I'm not, I will admire from a distance while firing the mellowest 38 spl and the hottest 357 mags from my tried and true GP100.

edit to add: it would be fun to try though

I am going to say that this sounds very much like an answer looking for a question. I would also point out the likelihood that this has more to do with Brazil's peculiar gun laws than anything that concerns us at any practical level. As of the last I read (and I will grant you that I feel little reason to follow too closely) Brazil allows private ownership of revolvers of .38 Special caliber or less and autopistols of .32 ACP caliber or less. It may well be that they like the concept of the 9mm revolver with moon clips but the 9mm falls on the wrong side of the divide for domestic politics.

A .380 revolver could be more compact than a .38 Special.

But if this is a .380 cylinder on a .38 frame, there's no purpose in the U.S.

From the company that gave us The Curve, and The View. Gotta hand it to Taurus for coming up with creative answers to questions no one asked.

But could it be more compact than a 380 semi-auto while not gaining any advantage (potentially losing, dependent on model) in capacity?

No. This isn't possible. Anything with a cylinder is going to be wider than your standard LPC or P3AT type gun.

Some years back there was a revolver made that fired 9mm, 38 Special and 357mag. It would also fire 38 S&W and that is real close to a 380.

I saw several of these at the Indy1500. The cylinder is really short making the entire gun pretty short.
