Ever since I finally drank the Kool-Aid and bought a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle I haven't looked back. I have pretty much gotten rid of every other bolt gun caliber I owned since then. So between the Creedmoor and the Grendel I really cant see myself needing any other long range caliber for no more than what I do. Only downside is I waited so long to try them out... Any one else bit with the 6.5mm bug?

Got these two out yesterday for a little trigger practice...

I have been wanting to get one of the new Ruger Precision's in 6.5 creedmore. Like you, I have that strong desire to reach out further.

6.5 X 55 swede got me hooked. The 6.5mm American wildcat was my favorite until it was standardized as a .260 Remington. The 6.5mm X 284 bucked the wind so much better than my 7.62 X 51 at 1000 yards it was almost like cheating. If I was still in that game, I am sure I would be playing with the 6.5mm Creedmore by now. I guess you can say that I kind of like 6.5mm

I also got hooked by the 6.5x55 and have been through several other 6.5mm cartridges since. My favorite is the 6.5JDJ which is basically a 6.5/225 Winchester Improved. I am a T/C junkie, so it makes it pretty easy to try new cartridges.

It was kind of one of those things I read and read and talk to guys that have been shooting them for a while now. I've shot 243 for a precision/long range cartridge for years, but finally decided it was time to step into the newer times. To a point its almost effortless with how well the Creedmoor shoots with just using factory ammo. It took me a lot of time prepping and going through load development to find a nice load that will do what factory match stuff will in my Creedmoor. Its just hard to go back after seeing results like that.

I always liked the 6.5x55 Swede and had thought about the .260 Remington in the AR format. Would the Creedmore or Grendel be a better overall option nowadays ?

Well, the only one that will fit in an AR-15 is the Grendel, and they say it does pretty well. But if you go with a bolt gun or AR-10, you open up bigger, faster, flatter cartridges like the Creedmore and .260 Rem (which are almost identical in ballistics).

Yea an AR style rifle in 6.5CM would be pretty nice no doubt. There are a few manufactures making out of the box rifles chambered for it. Not to mention the countless options if you were to build one. As far as the Grendel its just to much fun shooting it suppressed ;)

Another fan of of the 6.5x55. 1942 mauser owner. I have recently started reloading handgun cartridges, and plan to eventually reload rifle cartridges. Would love to shoot the old mauser again. Saved all my brass. Amazing accuracy, flat shooter and low recoil.

Another vote for 6.5 creedmoor. My next project after pistol is a 6.5-284. Farthest I've got to shoot is 600
yards. But had a 1.427" group. I can't seem to upload the pic. 140 gr Berger vld and h4350. My buddy has a range down south after the corns out he said it's just shy of 1000. I'd love to try

Why that hasn't displaced .308 in many cases is beyond me. Great cartridge for that use.

I helped a friend sight in his 6.5 creedmoor (RPR) yesterday and it was unreal the groups we were getting right out of the box. I actually have had my eye on one for awhile I've just been waiting on Ruger to come out with them for a lefty. The CEO said they were but I'm begging to have my doubts, and I'll probably have to go another route, but I'm going to buy or build a creedmoor before too long.
