It's 1864 and down at the hardware store you get to pick out your every day carry pistol.
    Which do you choose?

I'm not generally a high capacity guy; but, I am going with a pair of Colt Army Models of 1860. I'd probably toss in an extra two bucks a piece for ivory handles.

I forgot about the Starr, that would be a good choice. Also no federal laws yet... any rifle in 1864 worth sbr ing? or maybe some howdah pistols?

With the Civil War on, most EDC would be what your regiment issued to you. Move out to the 1870s or 1880s and it becomes more interesting. At that time, I'd probably by hoping for a Colt Peacemaker to hang on the hip.

I assume we are getting there via time machine. I will therefore be bringing an AR15* and as many mags as I can carry. Then, I will take over the world.

*AR15 pistol, since this is the handguns section.

A while back I got a .40 bore 1858 (uses .41 molds) and really do appreciate it.
The short barrel .44's are pretty handy, especially the ones with a large opening in the frame for loading longer bullets. Those were pretty common before the war was over.
Thinking about every day carry as common as it was when I was growing up, got to wondering about a century earlier.
Reckon I'd go for a shortened 1860. The chambers were made for cartridges and the loading lever had a toothed drive to assist swaging in loading.

Go for the Colt Walker... In 1864 there are a lot of horses out there, and they may need stopping just as bad...

If Josey Wells can carry two (plus other guns) a normal man should be able to pack 1

and then who knows they may write a song about you..

A pair of Welsh Nave .36's. Gives you 24 rounds of .36 balls. Also a 12"-16" blade with a D-guard. Each gun has 6 shot cylinder that is double loaded, also the hammer is two hammers SxS, one for the front charge and the other is for the back charge. Shoot the front 6 then the rear 6.
