Pretty sure I grabbed the first one in Ohio today! I know Bass N Bucks up in Wabash has some, but I'm still a resident of Ohio. In anyone wants to finger bang it, I can bring it to Parabellum on Wednesday for USPSA. I won't have a holster in time to run it. Primarily picked it up to run Carry Optics.

That is a nice looking weapon. How is the trigger different than the Full Size? Looks like an Apex trigger.

Gun was too tight from the factory to easily break down, and I needed to break it in a little bit anyways. I'd usually clean a gun first, but it came pretty wet from SIG, so I rolled with it.

First 250 rounds out of it went as follows:

115gr Blazer Brass - no issues. Was definitely shooting low. We are talking like 4" at 7yds low. Played with the sights a bit, but was a little rushed. Got it good enough.

124gr Bobcat Reloads - no issues. Ran fine. Still grouped a little low.

147gr Freedom Munition new ammo. One FTE on the first magazine. I saw a post or two of this happening with some softer loads over on the Enos forums. This was the only malfunction of the day.

    Thoughts:
The gun runs INCREDIBLY soft with the 147gr. Such a dramatic difference from the 115/124 that I was actually flinching a bit (which I don't think has ever happened with 9mm before).

Accurate - I was chasing the sights around a little bit. Especially with moving around with my ammo choices as well. I could hit a 2" square at 10yards and that's about as good as I can shoot. Kept them all in 6" or so at 15yards shooting relatively quick. I'm not a great shot by any means.

I shoot lefty, usually pull my shots to the right quite a bit unless I give the support hand a lot of pressure. The flat trigger in this thing solved quite a bit of this.

The trigger - I'm a trigger snob, with the exception of my WW2 guns, every single gun I have has a worked trigger. This trigger is acceptable out of the box, probably will be nice with 1k rds down the pipe. It definitely does not need to be upgraded, but I'll wait and see what happens. I normally shoot a XDM with a PRP worked trigger and it's probably one of the best striker fired triggers you will find.

Only other complaint is the front fiber sight is a little on the small side. I would have liked a little larger fiber rod to be used. Not sure what my options are there, but was a little hard to see indoors. I'm 35 and my eyes are starting to show some wear from sitting in front of a computer for the past 15 years. They used to be 20/20 but they definitely don't focus as well as they used to.

Put another 200rds down the hole today on my lunch break at Point Blank in Carmel.

I was able to get 124grains dialed in pretty much perfect.

Switched to my 147grains, and man, the gun shoots so soft with these. With the 147's, at 10 yards, the point of impact also dropped about 4". I've never had a gun be so sensitive to ammo and POI/POA.

Trigger has definitely broke in some, getting a little less of a spongy break. Definitely still am NOT a fan of the little front fiber sight. I'll be switching to a DOT soon, so that will be eliminated.

Also, while it probably won't be a big deal during a match, you can definitely tell the heft of this thing during a rushed lunch lead therapy session.

This thread needs a follow up

Sorry for staying quiet. Between work and some family obligations I've been very busy.

I took the gun back out to Point Blank yesterday, to run some drills. I have the sights dialed in finally for the 147's. I ran the casino drill 3x in a row, and can honestly say this is the first time I've cleared the drill shooting fast. Also helps that the 21rd capacity let me get through the whole thing without a reload. So I guess it's not a true casino drill, but being at a public indoor range I worked with what I had available.

While I still shoot some other pistols more accurately than the X5, I have to spend much more time doing so, and I have WAY more time with those guns. I think with another 1k down the hole, this will be the finest shooting pistol I own. I can definitely shoot the X5 faster than anything else.

The gun seems to be fully broken in, it has around 600-700 rounds through it. I really wanted to break it in fully without modifying anything. With that said...here are the next steps:

    1. Sending it out this week to Robert Burke for his competition trigger job.
    2. Waiting for my RHT holster/belt setup to come in.
    3. The following goodies have been ordered from Springer - SS guide rod, 14lb 1911 spring, grip tape (I love the size of the X5 grip module, but because it's a little large, I need some help), extended base plates and grams followers (so I'll be sitting pretty with 23rd magazine capacity), extended magazine release (as I said, the grip module is a little large, I need to break my grip to get to the mag release and hoping the extended one saves a little of that).
    4. Waiting for the Sig Pro Shop to get in my Romeo 1.

I'll probably start running it in Limited Minor until the DOT comes in. Will be about two weeks before I get it back from the trigger job.

I still get a few PM's about this gun.

As an update here's where I stand:

    1. 3k rounds down the hole. Almost all have been Freedom Munitions 147gr, which measure out to 130pf. Since my first post, I've had one failure. Thankfully it was when I was chrono-ing the gun.

    Gun has the following work:

    1. Robert Burke trigger and action work (The Sig Armorer | Sig Pistol Trigger & Action Job Specialists). I've never measured it. I initally wasn't too thrilled with the work to be honest, it seemed to still be a fairly heavy trigger pull although the travel and reset were much improved. After finger ****ing a factory P320-X5 tonight, I know that a trigger job definitely helps. It's definitely broke in a little bit since he worked his magic on it. Also it's an added bonus that once a year he will go through the gun for free and check everything/anything.

    2. Shorter front site. I had to have the factory rear sight maxed out to get this thing on paper. Now with the shorter front site I have the rear sight one click from bottomed out.

    3. Springer Grip Tape - Pretty decent, pain in the ass to apply, make sure you have a heat gun to make it curve easy.

    4. Springer extended magazine release. These X5 grips are a little meaty. With the grip tape, my hand is locked into place almost too good. I need all the help I can get to get my thumb on the release.

    5. Springer Tungsten Guide Rod - big heavy piece of metal. No need to get the tungsten, save your money and get the SS one.

    6. 13lb recoil spring. I have a bunch of springs for the gun, but put the 13lb in initially and never pulled it. Seems to be a solid balance (and what most of the guys over on the ENOS forums are running). Gun shoots really flat and nice. I cleared a steel plate rack tonight in an indoor match strong hand only if that's an indication of how well the gun runs.

    7. Springer magazine base plates and gram followers. These install easy, and let me hold 23rds. I feel like I'm cheating with that much ammo. Barney a round and I get to call my reload on whatever part of the stage I feel like.

I never ended up putting a dot on the gun. Just running it Limited Minor. I'm down in North Carolina now and I think more people run Limited Minor than any other class/division. Probably 60% of our indoor match tonight shot Limited, all but one shot minor.
