    Nice I always had either a Remington Rand or Ithaca .45 on my hip during my Army days, transitioned to the Beretta 9mm and wasn't as comfortable, but those days are over, funny in twenty-one years I was never issued, or ever saw a Colt marked US Army .45 outside of a museum display.

    Same experience here, it was always some other manufacturer. I saw and shot lots of 1911s but I assume Colt only received royalties for the production of any of them. They all worked however...

    I also agree on not caring for the switch to the Beretta.
