I thought this was interesting. It is a video from the Indiana State Police made in 1988 on how to properly use a speedloader.

Very nice video. It really shows how the speed loader saves precious seconds. The trooper behind the car in the opening scene didn’t stand a chance against the camera guy if the camera guy was a bad guy. Nice Smith&Wesoon revolver too.

I watched this an enjoyed it immensely. Makes me sad that I've sold all of my K frames. Perhaps I'll have another one day. The video definitely made me re-think my revolver handling when using a speed loader. I always kept the gun in my right hand, and after ejecting the old brass I'd reach my index finger through the frame to stabilize the cylinder. The shoe and belt reload aides were cool.

    Very cool video.....thanks for sharing.

ISP was very resistant to approve the use of speed loaders. After many years of them being in use by other agencies, ISP refused to allow to troopers to use them. It was not uncommon for a trooper to carry one or more speed loader in a pocket or some other hidden place, but he would be disciplined if he was caught carrying them.

Years ago I nearly kicked off a range for using speedloaders. I had a bunch of them lined up and was stress testing a new old gun. Not shooting too quickly, just reloading too quickly.,

That was a very odd day.

"You are switching hands! That's dangerous!"

    Ummmm . . . .

How many wear open boots high enough hold the barrel.
best to hold the barrel with your injured arm's elbow against your side.
Also you are not taken your eyes to far off target. But with practice you need not look down.
