Saw these tonight while poking around their site.

    A new "Officer" sized 9mm.....https://ruger.com/products/sr1911/specSheets/6758.htmll

    Ok, I'm totally intrigued.

    6758.jpg

I picked up the commander in 9mm shortly after it came out, and LOVE it. To this day, it's pretty rare that it doesn't make its way into my range bag.

The main thing I did to the commander was go with a 14# recoil spring, as the 10# factory spring made the slide feel "lazy" when it cycled. It's a hoot, has run 100% so far, and I seem to easily hit what I want to with it. My main purchase goal this year is a CZ PCR, but this new officer model might just jump ahead in line.

Those do look pretty interesting. I imagine that officer sized 1911, when shod with ultra thin grips, would make an excellent CC pistol.

I find it interesting that these are “bushing-less bull barrel”, but come with a bushing wrench.

    Maybe be I don’t understand Ruger-speak.

I also noticed recently in my LGS that Ruger is now selling a 10mm 1911.

I'd be real interested in anyone's experience that owns a Ruger 1911 in either of these two cals.

    Thanks & stay warms all.

Ruger 10mm SR1911 has been out since middle of 2017. I have one and had had no problems shooting.

I did replace slide stop / thumb safety plunger spring. The thumb safety was easier to operate than i liked so i replaces with a wilson spring that cost 2 or three dollars. Small easy to replace so i don't think much of it.... (important function though).

Thanks....I know I am late to the game with my "discovery" of this. I have several 10mm handguns (a couple SW 10xxs and a G20), but never owned a 1911 10mm.

I have heard in the past, Colts Delta 10mm had some issues with bulging cases due to unsupported feed ramps. My memory is vague, but the issue may have been limited to using hotter loads, such as DoubleTap and Underwood.

Does your Ruger 10mm incorporate a fully supported feed ramp? What ammo have you been shooting if I may ask?

    thanks

I have not noticed any bulging problems in the ruger 10mm.
Here is a video on the chamber support compared to others- it compares well

I shoot most all handloads from my 10's loaded with blue dot or long shot. I have in 10mm- SR1911, DanWesson Silverback, Glock G20, G29, G40, and S&W1006. I like shooting really hot from the glocks with KKM barrels & stronger recoil springs.

Only factory loads i have shot from SR1911 10mm is underwood to check operation with that ammo. I carry the Ruger, before that carried the glock G29. Glock my be the better carry gun, but the SR1911 gets me on looks (I'm shallow that way).

The only thing i am considering changing is the front sight. It has all black front & rear sights.

Very interesting in the 9mm chambering. I have been considering a caliber change. Nothing fits my hand like a 1911, but I'm fighting some injuries including nerve damage that are starting to weaken my grip strength. The .45 ACP is starting to be a handful recoil wise. I am quite a bit slower on follow up shots these days.

I posted up pics of this on the 1911 Show-n-Tell thread. I mentioned previously that I have the SR1911 9mm Commander, which is one of my favorite purchases over the last couple years, so I called ahead to PSS first thing Saturday morning to see if they had this new Officer's Model in stock. Sure enough they did, and Bob put it back for me. So far I'm absolutely digging it. Fits my hand really well, has a nice comfortable balance to it. I had to drift the rear sight just a tad, which was quick and easy, and it's otherwise spotless. I really like the grips, too.

FWIW, PSS also had the new 9mm target in-stock. I didn't give it much more than a quick glance in the case, as this Officer's Model is what I was there for.

I haven't put any live rounds though it yet, but so far on the laser target, it seems to be dead-on. I've broken it down and given it a light cleaning/somewhat generous lubing. This is my first bushingless-barreled 1911. I found take-down and re-assembly to be very straightforward. Without the guide rod spring button, I'm less likely to put my eye out, right?

How about some pics of it in your hand? I'm interested in the number of fingers on the grip.

What did you pay if I may ask?

Hands are subjective, so this will hopefully give you a size comparison next to the SR1911 Commander. At the risk of sounding like a porn star wannabe, I have longish spidery piano fingers with an average-sized palm, and my pinky easily fits on the bottom of the grip:

Price was $749 + tax. The target version was +$10.

It might not be readily noticeable in the pics, but I like how the bottom of the Officer grip is rounded, and not squared off like the commander.

I have been watching for some reviews on this new platform they came out with. Now I’m really intrigued.

You know..., you need a full size .45 to round out your collection. How about you buy mine, so I can get the 9mm Officer... :D

I've been nothing but impressed with the Commander. The only thing I did besides the grips was to put in a 14# recoil spring. It comes with a 10# spring, so the slide is super easy to rack, but I thought it felt spongy and a bit lazy. The 14# spring cured it immediately, and the trigger has shot in really nicely.

    Thanks.

Hahh!! I just recently bailed out of 45 so I could better support my wheel gun 357 habit. Love the round, but so far I'm happy that I made this minor caliber consolidation adjustment. And I still get a good dose of 1911 therapy without punching holes in my wallet. Well... except for the "buying a new gun" part.

I don't trust Ruger to make an officer sized 1911 that actually works

Happy to report that so far, the Officer has 150 trouble-free rounds through it. For today's outing, it ran as perfectly as the SR1911 9mm Commander did on its first range trip. Seems to be plenty accurate too... even my son, who is definitely more of a rifle kid, nailed a dead-center bull's-eye on his second or third shot. The only thing I had to do was put a dab of blue Loctite on the grip screws, which I should have done before I hit the range. I was also pleasantly surprised with how soft a shooter it is. I know it's early and hopefully I'm not jinxing myself, but I think it's a keeper.
