Interesting. The thumb safety is an improvement over the original Shield. Not something I'd be in the market for, but I'm sure they'll sell.

Seems they come with and without a thumb safety. They are touting the ease of racking the slide. If it is easy, it will sell a bunch.

I wonder if it's gonna be small enough to be worth getting over the 9mm option. Probably not.

It's slightly larger and heavier per the specifications page.

    Outside the coup
No thanks. This looks like a version of the 22 compact revamped to the 380 more than a converted Shield. We have the full size M&P 22's and the safety looks like the same one, if it is it sucks. Yes, it's larger and easier to hit, but it's horrible. Also, a grip safety? WTF? I guess it wasn't enough to be able to look into the hole to see the chambered round, now it looks like we'll get a pop up on top of the slide as well.

I'm sure they will sell a ton of them, just not to me. The entire thing looks like a step backwards in design and was created by a team of liability lawyers. Had they just transitioned a regular shield over to 380 (increased barrel length or not) I would have bought at least 2, maybe 3. I cast and reload the 380 for practice and plinking when 22 is short or expensive. I know my mother, in her 70's, would have liked it but not with all the extra BS.

I will call it interesting. Surprised at the size? Guessing they needed a little more recoil spring to contain recoil and make it easy to rack? Not sure "EZ" is best marketing ploy.

Clearly geared toward those that have trouble with the Shield slide and the addition of a grip safety makes me think they intend for it to be carried in less than ideal methods....i.e. bottom of purse?

More than an inch longer than a Sig P238 though undoubtedly less expensive.

So its bigger than the 9/40 and 45 shield but has a less potent round. I don't get it.

Are you a little old lady that is recoil sensitive? You don't "get it" because it is not intended for you.

Seriously, this is perfect for some people. The only pistol my wife LIKES is her Sig P250 in .380. Medium sized gun, not a compact, easy to rack slide, 15 rounds and shoots like a .22.

Single action trigger per the link. At least the gun is the right size to both take advantage of an under powered cartridge and reduce recoil. I will reserve judgement until I see one.
