So....someone tell me how Rural King works. I was thinking about picking up a M&P 22c for the grandkids. It's about $50 cheaper than my LGS.

Question is if its not in stock; how much is the charge. $10?

    As Freebird01 said..is it $299 + tax plus $10. No $10 if in stock?

If the savings ends up to be much less than $50; I'd just as soon use my LGS.

If it's in the store, you just buy like you would anywhere or anything else. No shipping. Just normal taxes.

The $10 is shipping to your local RK. If you go to the store, you just buy it. If you buy it online, you pay the extra $10. They then ship it to your store, you go fill the paperwork out when it comes in, and pick it up. If the gun is in stock in the store, you can't pay online, then go pick it up. You still have to wait for the one you bought to be shipped. Likewise, even if it's out of stock online, they may have one in the store. It's almost as though it's two stores with the same name, if that makes sense. Buying from one has nothing to do with the other.

The benefit is they are usually cheaper then the store even with the $10 shipping if you hit their sales. the only bad part is you have to wait...there is no instant gratification. They are also usually cheaper then most of the LGS i find. I don't mind the LGS...we bought my wife's Ruger LC9s from ZX guns here in Fort Wayne and i go to Freedom's indoor range once in awhile so im not a complete stranger to the LGS's.

I get a Rural King flyer every week and I didn't see the Ruger SR22 for $269.
    I did buy a S/W M/P Compact 22 a month ago ($300) new there b/c I couldn't find a used one anywhere and
I noticed that they were running another one again:

I'm on RKGuns.com now. They have the Springfield XD 4.0 Mod2 9mm for $379. I've been resisting buying this gun, but that's $60+ cheaper than anywhere else. If they have it in store, I'll buy it, if not, I won't.

I went through the same dilemma on something like this. I think my LGS was a touch closer though. I think what OP paid was within $5-10 of what he would have paid OTD at my LGS. I don't even usually try anymore from them. I'll check online prices via one of the search engines and so long as they can get it close I just go to the LGS first anymore. Plus it's way faster that way.

    1. If you liked the way the Ruger SR felt in your hand: you will love the Smith Shield.
    2. I've shot both of them, and I love them all, but really like the Shield's feel in my delicate manly hands.
    3. And I hear you on range ammo costs.
    4. I have 1000s of 22LR (in fact buying some tomorrow) and 1000s of 9mm, but only hundreds of 45 (going to go buy some more 22LR (1400 rounds) and some 45 (350 rounds) in 20 minutes.

After you pick up your purchase at the store please post your experience there.

I have never had a problem with the staff. I bought my sccy the same way and it went very smooth. The only thing that was strange to me is being escorted out of the store but in this day and age i dont blame them for being careful.

Ive had more issues with idiot customers that have to "try on" 30 different guns then go back through the mix randomly at least twice then walking away and not buying anything....guess thats what you get when buying at a farm store rather then a lgs
