Came across this gun on GB and after some cylinder work got it shooting. It started out life as a 455 Eley made in 1915 for the UK that made it's way back to the states after WW1 along with a lot of others. At some point in time it was bored to 45 Colt and the barrel was cut to 3.5 inches, added to this was a custom front sight, a rounded cylinder latch from a New Service target model, and an offset target hammer. Hard to tell when the work was done, 20s, 30s, 40s, but it was probably somebody's hard hitting EDC. Colt 45 being a high powered cartridge for that time. The gun balances well and the DA pull is very smooth, accuracy at 25 yards is spot on.
Looking for a period holster for it now, don't know if I should get an outdoor type or shoulder holster. This might have been something like a blend of Dirty Harry and Sam Spade carried long ago. Here it is next to a regular New Service of similar time period.
