A week ago today, I didn't own a revolver. Last Monday I stopped into a LGS I usually don't go to because I just forget about it. They had a S&W 642 in the used case. It followed me home. Today my dad gave me a Heritage single action in 22lr/22 mag convertible.

The only one I currently have is a black powder, but I can see myself buying more of them maybe even a more modern cartridge revolver. It's just something about manually operating them that feels so wonderfully different than just slapping mags in a semi-auto.

I have that same Smith 642 hammerless: my favorite CC: hope the price was to your liking.
Getting any gun from one's father would be cool.

    Happy Birthday Tank...

Good going on your first two wheel guns..That Smith snub makes a fine pocket gun..Stoke her up with some of those new model short barrel 38 defense loads, or the old school full wadcutters..

You will have PLENTY of fun with the old looking Cow Boy 22 too..

The next one needs to be an old 4" S&W model 10.....I think?? snorko has one up for sale...Bill.

    Yep it's right here...https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...rs/450636-s-w-model-10-6-38-spl-revolver.html

If the DAO throws you off, have one of those "Smith Boys" up there by you to replace the hammer..

Congrats on the very wise purchase and excellent gift!

I also have a soft spot for revolvers, specifically S&W.

I stumbled across a couple in the last two weeks that I had to have.

Congrats on the nickel 586...And I'll leave you with a Roy Jenks quote from the S&W forum I saw one time...

"One day S&W collectors are going to realize just how few 586's were nickel and when they do the price will rise..."

    Congrats...We have the same tastes...:)

I had a chance to shoot it on Sunday. I had CCI 22 shorts and some 40 gr Magnums. I had forgot the standard LR ammo at home.

Anyway, the shorts were fun. No recoil and quiet. The shorts out of a rifle are dead quiet. I tried some without ear pro. Out of this pistol, the sound like a cap gun. For me, they shot high and to the left. This was off hand so it could have been me.

I switched the cylinder to the WMR and tried it. It was dead on.

It is a fun gun. The empties come out almost without using the usual means of a single action.

I let my boy try it with the shorts. He wanted to hit the yellow balloon hanging up. He did get it.
