Bought the Glock 26 last week to replace a Beretta Nano.
Ordered a Beretta 92S service revolver for a range toy b/c I loved the wide grip after renting all the big 9mms Point Blank Range had.

The Glock had more recoil than the Beretta since it is lighter and smaller.
I ordered the Beretta before I had bought the Glock and after shooting both, I don't need the Beretta for a range toy since the Glock has a good size grip and shoots about the same for me and it can serve as a carry gun as well as a range toy: love my Glock 26.

So sorry to hear that you prefer a G***k over Italian artistry....

Sometimes I think we would be better off not knowing the price or brand of a firearm and just shooting until we find the gun that likes us. The G***k will serve you well.

I just turned in my old Ruger P944 and have been all over the place with a new replacement large frame 9mm. Went and shot the Glock 17 and 34 last week. Been looking at 1911s and a P92 as well. Recommendations?

You’ll probably get a better response starting a new thread and explaining your goals, budget etc.

Recommendations? My plastic pistol that I’ve been shooting the most right now is a CZ P10C with an HBI trigger. Others include M&P 2.0. Glock 17/19 and about a dozen other viable options.

1911s - if you’ve not owned one you should. Budget will determine options.

Thanks for the advice and info mcapo. I've heard good things about the CZs. I'm in the $600 - $1,000 range. I've always loved the 1911, but have never owned one.

    1. My journey is too limited to advise (I'm a pseudo, quasi, semi-expert on 22LR). :lmfao:

    2.

    3. I got lots of good advice when I went down the 1911 (.45) journey, and have a couple of threads about it.
    4. I was looking for a
9mm 1911, but was told I had to do the .45, and did.
    5. In my limited price range, I got the Ruger SR 1911 5" stainless steel Government model which was a very good one at the lower end or price ($600, and I saw one for $500, the lowest price for that model I found).
    6.
Thereis a Smith and Wesson available at Hoosier's Armory now for $800 and I've seen them for $600 (lowest).
    7. I could have bought a Dan Wesson for $1000 at Hoosier Armory (gone now) but I wasn't man enough to step up to the plate.

    8. I personally loved the Kimber 1911, but have heard negative things about them (like nearly every other gun if you read the 'net).

Thanks for the advice and info mcapo. I've heard good things about the CZs. I'm in the $600 - $1,000 range. I've always loved the 1911, but have never owned one.

    9. Do what was suggested and start a thread, the guys here will steer you right, once you set boundaries of what you are willing to spend.
    10. I'm known as a self-proclaimed "cheap-arse" and after poking a little fun at me, they gave the approval for the Ruger SR 1911
    for my
level of "Toyota Corolla" budget.
    11. I have two 1911-22 (GSG and RIA, and had the Sig Sauer), and eventually will get a 9mm 1911, but have found them to be more expensive than the .45 (supply and demand, I assume).
    12. Enjoy the education and the hunt: I do! :rockwoot:

Thanks for all of the advice doddg. I will start a new thread on the subject. I was looking hard at the Ruger SR1911 in 9mm. I'm a sucker for a good Ruger. They just seem to fit my hand so well and I've never had one I didn't like.

I did not realize that the 92S was a revolver...

    1. Opps! First mistake I've every made typing my thoughts.
    2. I really do know the difference between a revolver and a pistol, but who would believe a guy who called the Beretta 92S a revolver. :dunno:
    3. Maybe that's why I couldn't find the cylinder extractor to load it up. :dunno:
