I've picked up some of these and have been impressed. The material feels heavier than stag and look a lot like old ivory, but is more durable. Anybody else have hardware with these?

I bought this off GB and can provide you with the name. Have picked up most of my grips from Ebay. Here are some for the Colt SAA. The giraffe bone on the left feels much like sambar stag but is heavier, both are heavier than the rams horn on the right.

A lot of giraffe bone is sold to knife makers for handle scales. If you want the raw material to make grips I would suggest the knife making supply companies.

My brother has a set, they're either on his python, a S&W, or a 1911. I can't remember, he has a couple of sets of bone grips. But I remember them being very nice. Heavy for their thickness.

I have giraffe bone scales on a Damascus knife. I bought it years ago from a custom knife maker at the Indy gun show. While the knife does not get a lot of use, the scales seem nice and durable. They are orange and have a nice, unusual look to them.
