    S&W 629 .44 mag mountain gun 4"

So I posted this back about 2 years ago and have thought about it again. I have a nice S&W 629 .44 mag Mountain Gun 4" barrell that is really of no use to me or sentimental value. Im in the market for a nice Remington 700 .308 so Im looking to either sell this off or trade. What do you "S&W revolver pro's" think about this? What do you think the actual value of this gun is. Its a pre-lock gun with wooden grip. I obviously dont have alot of knowledge on revolvers. I do not have to sell it to afford the other gun but its just been sitting in my safe for 4 years now. Thanks...

I'm no expert, but I know what comparables have sold for:

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/788924384 sold a couple weeks ago for $850. I like yours better because I think those N-frame round butt grips are the bee's pajamas. I have them on both my N-frames and love the look and feel.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/788296681 without box & papers for $725. as you see, box and papers are actually worth a lot with a gun. Yours has them, so you're gtg.

    https://www.gunbroker.com/item/787423170 $770 for this one.

With the right buyer, you might get close to $900 in a face to face sale, considering no transfer fee and shipping cost. You might have to leave it out there for a while, which it seems you are willing to do.

    Best of luck to you.

I think if you are serious I have a Ruger M77 International RSR exclusive in .308 that goes for around $900 with the tang mounted safety that looks like this...

Not sure what the OP has in mind, but when I see Remington 700 in .308 my mind thinks tactical.
I would say with a soft market, your Smith should bring $800. The gunbroker links are always a great tool, the one similar to yours that sold for $850, auction fees were taken out of that.
Yes yours has nicer grips, but the rubber ones do help quite a bit shooting .44 Mag.

Good point about the auction fees. That drops a few dollars on what the seller was willing to take for the gun.

But you also have to add a few bucks for shipping ($30 or thereabouts?) and likely transfer fees (maybe 20-50 bucks? depending on who the buyer's transfer dealer is) to come up with what the buyer was willing to pay.
