I just read the article in the most recent American Rifleman about the new SIG P210 reissue. Who else is drooling???

I realize that it is not a true copy (far from it, actually), but that does not negate the fact that this is an amazing weapon. Maybe they should have called it a "P215" or something to satisfy the purists.

Dang, I'm jonesing... Anybody own one or shot one???

Spend your money elsewhere. Having Shot and owned the real deal this thing is far from it. Save that money and put it towards something much better which would be just about anything else. Bad trigger choppy slide to frame fit, it’s bad

Dang. That is too bad. The AR review made it sound like the bee's knees.

I bought one soon after they were released. I have never shot the old models but I really like my new one.

This has been my experience with handling several of the new ones. Quality felt on par with DW 1911s.

I’ve noticed in several forums that those that have originals have only negative comments on the new ones.

Magazine gives prduct X a glowing review regardless of actual function... gee that's never happened before.

So it's still a good gun, just not as good as the original.

I hear ya on the reviews, and I always take them with a grain of salt.

    But...

The range tests from a Ransom Rest at 25 yards were quite impressive. 5 groups of 5 shots each with averages of less than 1". At 25 yards. That is pretty impressive. They had a couple of 5-shot groups that came in at 0.5" at 25 yards.

With the machining that is done these days, most guns are now more accurate than they used to be. The people with the old guns disagree and say anything new is crap. A lot of the old Sig guys will tell you everything made after they moved to the US for manufacturing is lesser quality. Sure the old ones feel so much smoother in their action than the new ones... of course they started out a little looser and then had a bunch of rounds shot through them. So of course the old ones shoot like butter.

I thought I remember you getting one. Can I have it??? :):
I may hold on to it for now. But I will keep you in mind :):

I have a 210-4. Most have import stamps and rearmor stamps. This doesn't. I assume it's a good one based on everything I read, but I haven't put the fire to this one nor do I plan to.

Also I've read during the rearmor, which was done to pretty much all of them, they go through a rebluing process.

@Expat, I didn't know you had a 210 legend target. You are now the coolest person on the planet.
I was saying that I bought one of the new P210A Targets when they first came out. I have never shot one of the old ones or owned one.
    I wish I had one.

    Doublehelix,
    I have a swiss P210-6 and a P210A.
I like them both a lot.
    They are different for sure.

I sse you are in Westfield.
Have you ever been to Marion County Fish & Game Association range in Indy?
    I shoot there often.
Maybe you'd like to shoot both and make your own deductions.
edit: oops my bad, the P210-6 has left handed target grips.

One thing to consider before purchasing is the intended use.
    P210 magazines hold 8 rounds.
This can be a disadvantage in the modern action shooting games.
I use my P210A to shoot Texas Stars as our matches allow 8 rounds max in magazines.

The older P210-6 has an european mag release making reloads considerably slower,
so I use it for target shooting and plinking.

That range is really close to my house.

    Sigblitz,
I'm not sure when the top mag release was implemented,
but some of the German models (middle era) have it
and are generally considered as accurate as the older versions.
I shot both of mine from my ransom rest,
but the results were inconclusive because the grip inserts are not cut for the newer P210A.

Dang! Those both look so sweet. Definitely jealous!

I'd better not shoot anything that is going to drain my checking account right now... too tempting! My wife tells me that I am already way over my limit for the decade! :dunno:

    Maybe later in the year...

So do you feel the newer P210A is a nice gun, not necessarily comparing it to the Swiss-made original, but just in general?

    Doublehelix,
I understand not shooting new firearms - often immediately preccedes a purchase.

Yes, the P210A is very nice.
Keep in mind I've had several eurpoean target pistols and have not minded saving my pennies
for a while longer to afford the premium.
If you are a "dyed in the wool" 1911 guy, maybe its not for you.
(I own and enjoy several fairly high end 1911's - its just different)
If the magazine capacity is a factor,
you might consider the CZ Shadow II with the Cajun Gunworks Trigger Enhancements
    Have a happy holidays

Would you say one is better than the other? And how do they compare to the high end 1911's, better or not as good? Just fishing for a comparison review on the three which would be really neat because I don't think anyone has compared the three before.

    Sigblitz,

It would take a far more knowledgable and articulate person than me to accurately compare an older production P210, P210A and a high end 1911.
The establishment of what constitutes a high end 1911 would bring considerable opinions.

I enjoy them all for different reasons and I say "viva la difference".
