I am looking at selling my ruger lcp 380 pistol and getting the S@W PERFORMANCE CENTER SHIELD .45.I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this particular model, and if you like it or not.I know its got a ported barrel, was wondering if it is really worth it.If the porting really works on the street. Thanks

IMHO, porting makes little to no difference. Maybe the muzzle rise is a little less. The Shield 45 is really soft shooting given the caliber and platform.

The available FO sights on the PC model and the modest improvement in the trigger are a definite upgrade.

Th extra $100 or so is worth it to me...YMMV.

Porting does loose you some FPS.

    Yep - that and a 3" barrel.

These were the velocities in the article.

I was thinking that. I wouldn't want to lose any more velocity from the .45 ACP than I am already losing by going with the Shield and its 3.3" barrel.

I don't like fiber optic sights on defensive guns, so I'd have no reason at all to get the Performance Center model. I much prefer Trijicon HD night sights or similar.
