I purchased an old E. Whitney .36 revolver at an auction last week. Ive done my homework online but am hoping to find someone in Indiana who might be able to tell me more. I want to make sure its not a reproduction. its from somewhere between 1850-1860 unless its a reproduction.

I found out where to find the serial number. It is in many places. I imagine the oak grips will be very brittle.:nailbite:

... Simpson Limited in Galesburg, Illinois may be able to.

Damn you! I knew of this place decades ago. Even avoided it when I was in town for a seminar once, knowing I couldn't afford any Luger that I would want.

I had not been able to remember their name or what city it was in and have avoided googling for it for many years.

Now you come along and just throw it in my lap. My wallet and will power (or lack thereof) hate you.

Joking about the hate part but everything else is true.
