I've been impressed with the Italian repro guns for some time, fit, finish and general quality that I've encountered have been good. After a recent purchase I'm comparing these two, both plated with stag grips in 45 Colt. Other than the hammer spring tension there really isn't a lot of practical difference other than one is a 118 year old Colt and the other is an ASM Dakota.

On some reproduction percussion revolvers you can rebore the barrel to a larger diameter with faster twist and enlarge the chambers to suit. Then you're shooting revolver bullets cast from soft lead. It's not the magnumizing of a "cap'n'ball", but just shooting a black powder revolver with caseless ammo. Semi-wadcutters, wadcutters, round noses, whatever.

I bought an Italian reproduction last fall. It has been a blast.
I love my Italian girls! 
Bought a pair of Uberti 1873 revolvers years ago. Although the serial #'s were < 25 apart, they felt different than night & day. I replaced the springs with sets from Wolff, and now they are smooth shootin' sisters!
