Yup, it was a nice, easy Sunday morning range trip. The 10/22 is inconsistent and either a new rail, new receiver or maybe some tuning is still needed. The last time I shot it, it was spot on at the end and then went into the case only to come out shooting about 1” right and 1.5 to 2.5” low. I was at the max vert adjustment, so could do nothing about that but did move the impact back left. The more I shot, the more the vertical error seemed to self adjust. By round 50, it was only shooting about a half inch low.

I switched ammo and it was suddenly shooting almost 2” high. I adjusted zero and finished the box of cheap Federal HV ammo with very good results and only the occasional flyer. I switched back to the Aguila 38g, figuring that it would be way low with the adjustment but it was not consistently a bit high. With no adjustment, it ended up pretty much spot on and I was able to run some decent groups. Nothing worthy of measurement yet but I really do like that rifle. I think that I need to solve the rail/rings issue to get a nice consistent mount for the optic.

It’s an old dovetail rail that I had bought years ago. It’s utter rubbish and the rings are not much better. Both are low end and are the source of the issue I think.
