I bought my first ported Smith & Wesson today. According to the 4th Edition Catalog its 1 of 500. I bought it as you see it with the original rear sight in the correctly labeled box. Thanks for looking!

    Caliber man. What's the caliber?

    Very nice indeed.
If the porting is done properly, you'll see a huge difference in perceived recoil.
I have a couple of ported pistols and love them all.
I have a Taurus 7-shot 4" barreled .357 magnum that is a joy to shoot, but it does have a lot of mass to help mitigate recoil.
I have a 2" ported barrel .44spl Taurus "Ultra-Lite". That porting makes a difference I'm sure, but not as much as with the 4" .357.

The best use of porting that I own is on a Taurus Raging Bull. It has an 8-3/8" ported barrel and is chambered for .454 Casull.
You REALLY see the benefits of porting on this gun!

Are you going to use it for hunting?

44 Magnum. The only thing I hunt is paper and the occasional milk jug.

    Nice 629!

Ive got 6 1/2 and 8 3/8 classics. I keep eyeballin the ported ones on gunbroker, but they usually go a bit high for me.

    Shoot straight!
