I had a thing for the SA rugers at one time. Nice pistol. This could be a Ruger S/A picture thread.

That 1957 is fantastic! I've owned several Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks through the years. Only centerfire SA I have now is a 1976 Blackhawk stainless .

I'll play. OM Super Blackhawk. .44, NM Blackhawk .357, and NM Single-Six Convertible 22 LR/Mag currently make up my Ruger single action stable. I've had others in the past, but these 3 seem to make up a nice battery.

three50seven, those are some nice stocks on that 44. The one thing about Rugers is they put some plain stocks on them. Then again, they aren't plastic.

    BGDave:
Thank you! They're aftermarket laminates of some sort. I bought that gun for a song. It's been bubba'd up pretty good (barrel chopped and dura-coated), but it's an unconverted old model and shoots great!.

Was maybe around 1980.....pops got a .44 mag flattop.

Asked me to shoot it first. W the old Keith load.
Shot 5 and handed it back, said it sucked.

He called me a p***y an loaded it up and gave it a go.

Looked back at me and said " yup, this is a pos "
We both prefer Supers w dragoon frame, reg wood grips.

I get down low on the back and take the swat. Up to 255s and my hand doesnt slide.

Had a reg Blackhawk 357 old model and even as a kid hated the grip.

New model stainless w super dragoon frame swapped would be pretty comfy.

    No likey Bisley

Do think the short bbl flattops to be darn good looking. But I wouldnt get one ( for me ) unless .357

I don't care for the original XR3 frame either. The XR3-Red and Super frame are much more comfortable. I bought an new flat top .44spl when they came out. It was a great gun, but I couldn't make myself like the grip frame.

There is a place that makes oversize wood grips w the Ruger medallion. Those might be the ticket for enlarging the flattops to comfy.

They look pretty normal, made in Texas iirc.
