Does anyone know how to get to the firing pin on the Smith & Wesson 22a pistol?

I know the slide insert needs to be removed from the slide. What I don't are any roll pins, or other catches holding it in place. Yet it clearly does not want to be removed from the slide.

I broke my firing pin and need to replace it with a $7 replacement.

It's no Glock or HK that's for sure.

Reading on the S&W forums between 5000 and 20,000 rounds they break strikers.....

the replacement parts are only $7 at Brownells, but I need to know how to tear the thing apart.

There is an exploded view at the back of the owners manual.. would that help?

While you're at it get a bunch of recoil rods, spaces and springs.. seems like they get lost easily...

A spare recoil rod is a real good idea. When I first got my 22S I launched mine from the dining room to the living room and didn't see it until a month after the new one came from S&W. :dunno:They were nice and sent it free along with some spare buffers.:rockwoot:
