Yesterday, I went shopping for what is intended as my primary home-defense handgun (and carry gun once my Indiana license comes through). From the beginning, I'd intended to get a 1911.

And so I went down to the gun shop where I also do most of my shooting. Since I'm kind of budget conscious, I looked over several used ones they had--a Norinco, a Rock Island Armory, and one other I don't remember. However, sitting on the shelf above, for only about $100 more was a brand new Taurus PT 1911 AR, that just called out my name.

One NICS check later, I'm on my way home with the new Taurus.

What shop is this? I've been hoping to get a Norinco one of these days.
What was the price on it?

    Pop Guns.

Frankly, I don't remember the price for the Norinco offhand, but probably was in the $450-475 range.

Nice. I like the look of the Taurus. Can you give us a range report when you take it out? I've heard really good reports...I may need one too.

...and so it begins for another hapless gun owner.

Soon you will compare all of your other handguns to your 1911... some will make the cut, many won't. The next thing you know you have more 1911's than you do underwear.

    Congrats.

VERY NICE PISTOL! NOW TAKE IT OUT AND SHOOT THE HECK OUT OF IT ! TRULY A GOOD IDEA IF ITS INTENDED FOR HOME PROTECTION. MANY OF THE LARGER NAMED BRANDS HAVE SOME BUGS TO BE WORKED OUT EVEN IN NEW IRON.

Next thing you know, you won't even wear clothing. You'll just festoon yourself with a few strategically placed 1911's, then wander off down the street. Kinda gives a new spin on "open carry", doesn't it?
