    Hey Folks,

I would like to create a display of all the American military firearms of all the wars that I can. The general idea is to educate folks, show the evolution of firearms, and give the guys at the range some slow down as hopefully folks wander over to see the display from time to time.

I will be able to donate four (4) for display at this time and am hoping to fill in some gaps. I'm also going to check with a friend who has done some RevWar and Civil War reenacting. Maybe I can get some earlier models from him.

    Revolutionary War
    Pennsylvania Rifle (Spencer Rifle)
    Brown Bess (L01)

    Tower Pistol (SR)

    War of 1812 (1812 - 1815)
    1803 Harpers Ferry(L01)

    Civil War (1861 - 1865)
    Spencer Rifle, 1861 (Spencer Rifle)
Sharps & Hankins Navy Carbine (SR)
    Sharps Rifle, 1859 (SR)
    Smith Carbine, 1860 (SR)
    .58 Caliber Richmond (L01)

    Colt Navy Revolver, 1851 (SR)
    Remington Army Revolver, 1863 (SR)

    Indian Wars (1870's - 1890's)

    Spanish American War (1898)

    WWI (1917 - 1918)
    M1903 (Libertarian01)

    WWII (1941 - 1945)
    M1 Garand (L01)
    M1 Carbine (L01)
    M1 Carbine, Paratrooper Model (Jedi)
    M1903A3 (repeter1977)

    Korean War (1950 - 1953)

    Vietnam (1955 - 1975)
    CR-15 (semi-auto reproduction) (L01)

    Late 20th Century (Afghanistan/Iraq)

The above are what I have that I can bring. Please post what you'd be willing to send for the day.

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Scrounging brass
    Rev War:
    Pennsylvania rifle
    Tower pistol

    Civil War:
1861 Spencer rifle (all original except wood)
1861 Sharps & Hankins Navy carbine (original)
    1859 Sharps rifle (repop)
    1860 Smith carbine (repop)

    1851 Colt Navy revolver (repop)
    1863 Remington Army revolver (repop)

I have a display stand that can hold these plus a few more.
Interested in CW-era edged weapons? Have a few of those also.

This is an interesting idea. Hope it comes off.

i notice you did not include the various "Indian wars". May want to consider adding the 1870-1890 period at least and get the Trapdoor Springfield rifle and carbine on the table!

Thanks. I will see if anyone needs anything else before posting my (20th Century) ones. Also, I don't want to lend out all my firearms to Actaeon, as he will already have his own to watch. HOPEFULLY I will be able to make it.

I have added the late 19th century Indian Wars.

Actaeon, yes the racks would be nice. Thank you!

I told Jedi I'll run this table so there is no worry. I will make up some small labels to attach to each firearm that will tell a bit about its historical context. I'll also do some nice and simple papers that will help people know when each firearm was used.

I believe this is a great idea, but,...

I fear, security may be a problem, one person at this station could be distracted and overcome by a large group of people.

I believe that Libertarian01 is smart and imposing enough to get the job done, but, he is usually cooking.

I am not trying to quash this, I just think that there are issues that need to be thought out. It may be that this is already covered and I apologize to those smarter than I.

Normally I don't cook. I have helped out, as I did last year cooking bacon, but cooking is not my forte.

I intend to bring some thin, flexible steel cable that can be run through the weapons so they don't grow feet.

    Regards,

    Doug

Hey, I got a question.... this is at the F&W Winamac range ? Are they still doing the no carry zone thing over there ? I haven't been on a State Range since they started that. If so it will probably be very hard to get the guys to bring their vehicles over with the guns mounted. Just wondering before I ask them if they can show up...

Any need for a p-38 Spreeworks, re-blued, with walnut grips?

    .

I'd prefer to keep everything American military history.

IF we were to do multinational, then I think it would be good to do only one (1) time period, like WWI or WWII or Spanish American, etc.

Of course, if there is need for a pistol at the range, I'd say go for it.

    Regards,

    Doug

Do we have anyone donating anything else for display and not shooting?

An M1911 or M1911a1 would be nice. What about a WWI trench gun? Repro's will do as a display.

I am asking as I am going to buy some security steel plastic sheathed wire to keep things from walking off and need to know how much to get.

    Thanks,

    Doug
