It's been several years since I bought and learned to shoot handguns and few years since I have shot them. Just recently my wife has been come interested in learning to shoot (perfect timing with ammo pricing). Funny thing, I went with 9mm thinking that it would be the easiest to find if there were ever any big problems but I guess popularity is bad because that is what everyone wants.

I have considered purchasing a .40 s&w because I have been able to find that in stock at reasonable prices. Is that a good idea or long term solutions, or is it best to just wait until prices on ammo come back to earth?

In any case this seems like a great place to hang out.

Welcome! 9mm is popular, and easy to shoot. I would go for the 9mm, it will be cheaper in the long run I believe.

    Welcome to the group!

    :welcome:

While 9mm might be hard to come by at this time, and the .40S&W is available, I would not suggest it as a learning round. Too snappy for someone just learning how to handle a pistol. 9mm would be a much better choice.

Welcome from Jeffersonville. Kentuckiana Gun Store has regular supplies of 9mm. Albeit the price eeks up as time goes on.

Thanks. I bought my Makarov there back when they were Keislers or Orion Arms. I saw their prices on facebook and was a bit put off. Do you know if Rural King gets any regular shipments?
