You knew the dems in this state would start on this though I don't see it up yet but I heard about this on the morning local news.

Indiana Rep. Vernon Smith (D-Gary) is sponsoring House Bill 1149, which would close what some see as a major loophole in Indiana. Right not, if you’re not a licensed dealer, you can sell or gift a gun to someone without documenting the transaction. The bill would change that, requiring you to send a sales receipt to Indiana State Police within one day of the transaction.

Luckily, refered to the Public Policy committee. Lucas is a member. That should kill it.

I would just like to point out that this emphasizes the importance of actively supporting strong pro-gun candidates. We must remain steadfast in the future, our relentlessness in the past has been paying off nicely. Keep up the good work everyone! :ingo::patriot:

Wish I would have known about this before my meeting this morning woth a State Rep. As it's a short session this has even less of a chance but the danger is non-gun folks probably would view this as "reasonable".

    It is. But only after-the-fact:

    1. Post your gun for sale on INGO.
    2. 50 post wonder buys it from you.
    3. you disregard the law and dont send in your required form. F*** da man!
    4. buyer was a runner, has it stolen by a crack head, etc.
    5. Bad guy uses your gun in a crime and it is recovered from the scene.
    6. Cops start the trace and you get a visit asking about your role in the crime.
    7. You didnt file the form so you get hit with the crime of failure to follow the law. and pay the price.

So yes, it IS enforceable, but its not enforced except when something goes south and you have to prove you sold/transferred it. This probably goes hand-in-hand with the "you have to report all stolen guns" bill so you cant claim it was stolen to get out of this new law.

Meh. It's yet another anti-gun bill from Vernon. None of his bills ever go anywhere. Not even going to break a sweat about this one. It'll never see the light of day.

Seems to me that it would increase non ffl sales if you look at it that way. As long as you aren't the original buyer , you're good. We knew it was coming. Question is what are we gonna do about it?
