    Yeah late to the game but the event on FB has been up since Sunday ...
    and I did share in the other threads.

    As the other rallies - we trying to - requesting to - stick to CC for this -
    Please (CBH .... I know where you stand - we're getting to that.) I don't disagree so, don't make me re-post the other info.
    I prefer to OC my EDC myself ... and I'm usually busy to carry an long gun ... but anyway

    Text of Rally:

    UPDATE:
    Several liberal groups are uniting for the “March for Our Lives” event in Indianapolis. These groups are well funded; and well organized – They are promoted liberal, anti rights groups like EMPOWER (Women’s March), Moms Demand Action, and Everytown for Guns Safety, Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-rights organization. They are NOT simple - “student lead” - protests.


    These groups are anticipated to number several hundred participants; there will be many youth-, teens-, and young adults. These are not the usual people we face at a rally and added caution is advised; but hoped to be unnecessary. Some of these groups may arrive at the State Capitol early but the main group is scheduled to arrive at 11AM and they will be gathering on Senate Avenue on the West side of the State Capitol Building. This area is part of the Capitol Complex.




    WHAT WE’RE DOING:
    Our event is a Peaceful Non-Threatening Counter Rally. We are not going to “engage” with these folks directly; though we may in passing by each other. We are here simply to make sure that our side of the argument is seen and heard and to provide FACTS to stand against their propaganda and rhetoric.


    We must show them that we are normal everyday people. Normal attire, leaning towards “Saturday / Business Casual” or Professional Attire would be best. SNOW is now in the forecast – so please dress for the weather. (And travel safely!) We would request that "Battle-Rattle" is to be avoided.




    WHERE & WHEN:
    We will meet from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM (ish),
    We will Meet on the sidewalk / cultural trail area near the front of the south stairs (due south) of the Capitol Complex along Washington Street in Indianapolis.
    There are two important notes on this location:


    1) The grounds of the Capitol Complex are “PROHIBITED PLACES” to carry by the IC and IAC. This means EVERYTHING: The lawns, retaining walls, steps, Senate Ave; some of the parking garages/lots. In other words carrying a firearm there is Felony (even concealed). We must stay on the sidewalk / cultural trail area and must leave room for passers-by.


    2) While we fully support lawful open carry, we RESPECTFULLY REQUEST ONLY CONCEALED CARRY at this event; and in particular THAT NO Long Guns are carried. This cannot be stressed strongly enough. (NOTE: There is a time and place; and we’re working to bring an event for you, if you insist on this). IF you do carry a firearm, please be 100% in compliance with state and federal laws. Handguns require a License to Carry in Indiana. If you have questions, or objections I will put some more info in the comments / discussion.




    PLEASE SHARE AND INVITE OTHERS:
    THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND WE NEED TO HAVE AS MANY ATTEND AS POSSIBLE. For our voices to be heard, we need to show broad support for our positions.
    If you love our Country and support the Constitution, and Individual Freedom;
    PLEASE COME OUT – EVEN IF it is only for an hour or so!!




    While we know of joint rallies for our cause in handful of Indiana cities (which are following the same code of dress, carry, and conduct) - The March for our Lives – are holding similar rallies across the world (over 800 scheduled on this same day); with many folks being transported to Washington DC for the largest event. Their agenda is 100% against our protected constitutional rights. The sole goal, of these liberal groups, is to restrict and eventually take away our 2A rights.




    Some would tell you this is for the children, which they are using as pawns. I would contend they are partly right. We march to preserve our constitution, liberty and freedom for our children and grandchildren. AND we are there to make sure our strongest tool to protect them – our 2A rights remain intact.


    As Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same!!!”

    Haven't checked - I saw some saying this was a possibility as I got the event updated last night - but at the time the host was still saying on Senate Ave (west side of State House) - outside ... no matter ... that is as "prohibited" as inside ...

    We aren't "Facing them down" anyway - I wanted space - or you get into them yelling at us and we get blamed anyway.
    Hopefully we can talk to the media a bit in passing as well.

    I plan to CC so - I'm staying on the sidewalk - probably sign and flyers of info in my hand - and 2A hat on. ...
    It was cold when we started this Jan 2013. ... It will be a lot colder before I quit.

    No, but he is on here. That was, IIRC, Randy from Indy Gun Safety. He spoke with me and others a few times.

    The perception that comes at a counter rally with that is why we asked for CC only but he was (and stated when around me) "Not part of our group".

    Were you there? I was looking for more supporters but got totally pulled into several discussions (not yelling other than a few at me) with some of them.

    I had many civil and meaningful convetsations. A answered a ton of questions about whete I stood and about my firearm. I was there to educate, on my own. Not as part of any group or organized effort. At times I was attacked and insulted verbally. You speak of "arguing" with protesters. My main argument was with the girl that insisted on standing next to me with a sign that had an incorrect assessment of a certain part of my anatomy. Many people wanted to take pics of us together and I was very accomodating.

    People would approach and ask a question. The only arguing was with those who tried to shout me down and call me names as I tried to answer. I had dozens of civil conversations. I was polite as could be, unless you put your hands on me, got in my personal space, or interupted people I was having a discussion with.

    Why did I go? I got an unsolicited email from CHANGE.ORG allegedly from the youth organizers of the national March for Life organization asking me to sign a petition banning guns. Every few years Ive got to get out. It was time.

    You did a good job in my opinion - we (collectively) had reasons for ASKING for CC only - but if you've seen IMAGC (on Faceboo) or what I had here - it was a request.

    There were a few - the woman I talked to the longest said she was apprehensive when you walked away at one point. I had to keep from laughing.
    since you'd be there and talking with us prior to that and she hadn't noticed.

    Denny - were you on duty there? or called for some reason? Just curious ... I talked to one of the Capitol Police too.

    I want to say "Thanks" to those on our side who braved the weather and came out to support the 2nd Amendment. There was no way you were going to change some minds. However, I have hope you reached those who had an open mind, came out to support an end to school violence, and had an eye-opening experience that the movement they chose to be a part of really does want to ban guns. Those are the ones that can be convinced to change their minds. The hard-core Bernie Sanders supporters openly cheering for gun bans in order to usher in socialism probably aren't going to be open to a pro-2nd Amendment message.

    Yup, part of IMPD ERG unit (Event Response Group). We are trained to deal with protests and such and were assisting State Police in monitoring the exterior of the Statehouse. We typically have a squad or 2 at protests downtown, just to monitor. We were not expecting trouble but we are always watchful for it.

    That picture is a propaganda masterpiece.... kinda proves my point why I believed showing up at a rally with an AR strapped to one's back was a bad idea. And god lord, I hope that's not a camo hat....because why do people typically wear camo?

    With 4 million of these kids becoming eligible to vote between the protest, and the 2018 election, I think pissing people off by automatically being seen confrontational is a fool's errand. I imagine there are better ways to fight the good fight.

    It is the logical end game once you start down this path. You ban new sales of AWs. When there are a couple more attacks using the existing ones, you then have to ban them totally. Then when the deaths continue by handguns, you start the process there. Just like Great Britain, now they are going through the same process with knives.

    My assumption, as I'd have to see the actual signs to which you're referring, is they reference the idea that only insecure men with small "manhoods" want to own guns. I've seen these types of sentiments on bs Facebook posts decrying guns. When their attacks on guns fail, they resort to attacking the owners. Same type of idea as when they call the NRA and its members "murderers" and accuse them of being complicit in the murder of children.

    Kut........I truly believe we can not overcome the indoctrination the schools have given these kids. My 11 year old G-daughter has come home espousing the teachers hatred for DJT. A teacher spouting off political hate to a room full of young heads still full of mush. WTF. Yes we approached the school about this. No I do not believe we did any good. This is all by design. No tin foil here just paying attention. Young Mr. (:lmfao:) Hogue wants the 2A removed yet when common sense is used to put some level of safety on these kids we he invokes the 1A. Hippocrates and no one calls them on it. We are under attack from all sides.

    No, we will not change these kids minds especially when the school admin/parents/MSM keeps putting them out front.

    You know, when the first amendment was written, printing presses weren’t owned by most people.

    The right to speak freely is really just that. The right to speak. Maybe a handwritten letter, delivered by the USPS- but even that’s stretching things.

    Our founding fathers never imagined a future with the internet and Facebook and streaming video.

    This full auto conversation by those without proper training in the rules of debate and civil discourse is destroying our republic.
