The Ohio legislature has overridden Governor Kasich's (R/Presidential candidate) veto of a gun owners rights bill.

    Major provisions:
    • Preemption of local gun ordinances
    • Shifts the burden of proof from self-defense gun owners to prosecutors (wow!)
    • Improved firearms access for off-duty officers
The legislators had stripped a "stand your ground" provision from the bill in hopes of avoiding a veto, but obviously that wasn't enough for Kasich who instead wanted a gun violence restraining order bill.

Congrats to Ohio and get working on that stand your ground legislation.

I am uncertain if the numbers are still accurate, but more than several years ago I remember reading that nearly 40% of female inmates were incarcerated in Ohio prisons for self-defense.

If the burden of self-defense was on the state instead of the defendant (over 90% of whom were racial minorities) then these women (who had de minimis criminal histories) would not be in prison.

I'm guessing too many people are reading the tabloids and watching cable news.
Politicians are believing the Anti-Trump swill and swimming with the rats.
Wouldn't it be great if politicians actually followed the Constitution?

If I am not mistaken, one of the resident TDS sufferers said he/she would have voted for Kasich.

I and a couple of other NRA Board members were thrown out of Kasich's office once some years back when he was still a congressman when we went there to confront him over his vote in favor of the semi-auto ban.

He's a back-stabbing RINO and you can trust him no farther than you can throw him.

Did I hear him say, he grew up in a log cabin? Or is he a Log Cabin Republican?

Cleveland, Akron, Lima, Columbus, Dayton, and Cincy.

Lots of fairly significant urban areas for a state of 11 and a half million.

As bad as it sounds, Special K was probably the least worst candidate to a lot of them.
