Unintended consequences of gun control - Swedish variant

In the UK it's knives and acid, which apparently is more progressive.

    In Sweden something else entirely...

Just to put some things in perspective.

The deadliest mass shooting in American history was Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, 2017. Between the packed crowds, the narrow avenues of escape, and the elevated firing position, it was a turkey shoot.
    Death Count: 59
The deadliest arson attack in the (continental) United States was the Happy Land Fire, New York, 1990.
    Death Count: 87
The deadliest bombing attack in the United States was Oklahoma City, 1995.
    Death Count: 168
Vehicular ramming attacks are not all that common in the United States, but the deadliest attack in recent memory internationally was Nice, France, 2016.
    Death Count: 87
Not unless, of course, you count the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001.
    Death Count (Total): 2,997
    Death Count (Per attacker): ~200
    The point to this exercise?
If a deranged individual really wants to go out and kill a bunch of people, the "school shooter shtick" is possibly the least effective way to go about it.
Suppose you wave a magic wand and get rid of all the guns, forever. The crazy people will still be out there, they will not be dissuaded, and they will be forced to use alternative, more deadly methods of doing harm.

Boston Marathon bombs killed 3, but wounded over 260 people. The carnage of an improvised bomb is far worse, and they can be placed almost anywhere. You can't fight back against a bomb, or a fire.

Why? Just tell me why you want to try and dissuade lunatics with logic? Why? Hyperbole works much better when the adrenaline is running strong. Remember, never waste a good crisis.
Yes I am for gun control!! A firm grip, steady aim, and a gentle squeeze!!

What comes after your first "infraction"? Double Secret Probation perhaps???

It's almost as though people with ill-intent will find a way to carry it out with the available tools.

A slightly different take on this would be to point out that the 'school shooter shtick' is just that, a shtick. To some degree for these deranged individuals it may actually be about using a gun to commit mass murder, in how it's been perversely glamorized. None of that, of course, is to say guns inherent to themselves are the problem. It's the sort of narrative we've built up around using guns for this sort of crime.

Granath warned that attacks with explosives were more likely to end up injuring innocent bystanders than shooting attacks.
Way to go, guys. Your laws made people defenseless AND increased the likelihood of civilian collateral damage.

As much as gun control is dying under the assault of home manufacture and 3d printing, explosive control has never been a real thing. You can't legislate basic chemistry away.
