Guy being divorced by wife for abuse, she takes out restraining order on him. This makes him a prohibited person. He buys finds a handgun on Armslist and buys it via private sale. Kills his wife and two others at place of work, then himself.

Executor of wife's estate (daughter Yasmin Daniels) sues Armslist in state court claiming liability. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Armslist is shielded from liability under the federal Communications Decency Act (CDA). Daniels appeals to SCOTUS claiming the CDA's release of liability for website operators for the actions of people posting on the website does not apply to a company that "intended to facilitate and profit from tortious or criminal activity." I.e. the claim is Armslist is set up to facilitate the illegal sale of firearms to prohibitied persons.

SCOTUS denied petition on 25 Nov 2019, leaving Wis Supreme Court decision in place.
