    Good article. It reminds of "The Mountie, the Samurai, and the Cowboy" by David Koppel from about 20 years ago. It was more of a broad brush analysis since I assume he didn't have the localized data shown in the graphics, but it was basically the same comparison between Canada, Japan, and the USA, through the lense of culture and history.
