That's why you don't let the government impose a permission slip on your rights.

Another point of evidence the 2A is a second class right. Your rights don’t go away just because of a pandemic.

I have been wondering if the Governors of the various states are exceeding their powers by these decrees to shut down businesses. I'm curious if these actions are supported by their constitutions or by statute or if the Governors have just assumed these powers.

TBH I half expect some kind of internet switch-off, or even more widespread censorship than we're already seeing, before this crisis is over.

Congress is currently trying to sneak through a ban on end-to-end encryption and mandatory backdoors for government snoops in all computer systems.

Agreed with kjq, why let a good crisis go to waste...this is the perfect timing as well. What are we going to do? Gather in front of the capital and protest in groups of 10 or less in rotations?

Yep. And then point and say "See, only 10 people think _______ is wrong. We wont listen to such a small minority. "

The internet, infrastructure and cloud companies are what's keeping things rolling as well as can be expected currently. If what you predict, happens the storm that would come out of it would be a catastrophe.

Yep. no internet, no credit card machines, phones going dark, etc. The amount of private data lines connecting banks and whatnot have plummeted over the past decade to reduce costs and use existing cheaper internet lines for encrypted traffic instead.

Without the internet, modern life will grind to a halt.

What would it take to get to this point though? Shy of world ending catastrophe, i can't imagine this happening. Covid19 had a ways to go to push us there.
Not saying it isn't possible or that we're shouldn't be prepared, but it would take a lot to get there. Then again, im the complete opposite of an expert.

Not to mention we might actually have to talk to people. Like... face to face. :runaway:
