Read this and then if you decide to vote democratic anyway you should IMHO find a different forum to participate in. Comment on the open end instant check, Illinois has this and it almost always takes days. Of course you must first have a firearm owner identification card FOID. This is mandated by Illinois law to be renewed within 60 days or if new application within 30 days. People have been waiting months for renewal and new ones. Of course the firearms section of the Illinois state police have been working overtime to catch. They also moved several million dollars out of the firearm fund so they stay understaffed because of money woes.
"Mine were all lost in a boating accident" is fine if you want to keep them hidden in the basement. Just what good are they if you are afraid of repercussions for defensive use are worse than what you were protecting your family from. Jim.

Here is the actual text from the draft document:

Ending the Epidemic of Gun Violence
Gun violence is a public health crisis in the United States. Nearly 40,000 people die annually from guns—devastating countless families, friends, andcommunities. Addressing the gun violence crisis requires supporting evidence-based programs that prevent gun deaths from occurring in the first place, including by making mental health care more accessible, funding interventions to reduce homicides and gun violence in neighborhoods, and strengthening protections against domestic violence. Democrats will also ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have sufficient resources to study gun violence as a public health issue.

Democrats will enact universal background checks, end online sales of guns and ammunition, close dangerous loopholes that currently allow stalkers and some individuals convicted of assault or battery to buy and possess firearms, and adequately fund the federal background check system. We will close the “Charleston loophole” and prevent individuals who have been convicted of hate crimes from possessing firearms. Democrats will ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines. We will incentivize states to enact licensing requirements for owning firearms and “red flag” laws that allow courts to temporarily remove guns from the possession of those who are a danger to themselves or others. We will pass legislation requiring that guns be safely stored in homes. And Democrats believe that gun companies should be held responsible for their products, just like any other business, and will prioritize repealing the law that shields gun manufacturers from civil liability.

Biden's web site has all of these, plus in addition it says he would add "Assault Weapons" to the NFA and require anyone owning them to register them. He also says he would make schools safer by preempting any state laws that allow teachers to be armed.

That platform is full of what they really care about, not the fake empathy for victims of violence. It makes money for trial lawyers, CDC consultants, community activists, bureaucrats and all the staffing that goes with it.

    Always follow the money

They do realize we have the ability to shoot back?

Will Beto be leading the stack during confiscation raids?
Flappy arms doesn’t strike me as being hands-on. To borrow a line from the movie Hamburger Hill, he probably doesn’t even do his own ****ing.

And then last year, right before I moved out, they were saying they needed to increase the FOID fee from 10 dollars for 10 years, to 50 dollars for 5 years to cover the supposed budget shortfall. They'll screw you coming and going

I've always thought this was the most contrived, pandering, BS, cop-out.

Democrats will also ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have sufficient resources to study gun violence as a public health issue.

Gun violence is about the most personal issue one can have. It takes an act of personal responsibility (or perhaps lack thereof) and an act of very personal effort to commit violence.

Does this not say to anyone else that it is just an overt power grab?

Defining something as a "public health issue" just means the government wants authority over it...whatever the "issue" might be.

Those that support this Democrat platform wholeheartedly endorse the government to have power over you because they know they can't force their issues onto others so they want someone else to do it for them.

    How "American" of them.

    :wallbash:

Sorry for yelling into the echo chamber, just a hot-button issue for me.

My 20 year old nephew, with not so much as a speeding ticket has been denied a FOID twice. Never a solid reason given, just a prod to try again. It's another wrecked system in a wrecked state.

But, but, I was told by INGO that George W. Bush did nothing to protect gun rights. How can this be? Why would the Democrats target the PLCAA if George W. Bush did nothing?

    This is a thinker.

Gun manufacturers are just as susceptible to civil law suits as any other manufacturer.

Toaster manufacturers are also protected from a law suit when your wife throws it in the bath tub with you.

Biden says he’ll make schools safer by preempting any state law that allows teachers to carry. LOL is he serious? Can anyone name a single time a teacher shot up a school? So, teachers are dangerous, but teachers also need more funding? Do they even think about what they say anymore, or has their voting base become so insane they just eat up whatever their leaders spout? I guess AOC is proof of that.

Also, good job dems, we didn’t think it was possible to sell more guns than Obama era, but you once again proved us wrong.
