18 1/2" barrel for Mossberg 835????

Does anyone know if there is an after market barrel for the Mossberg 835 that is 18 1/2"? I have searched and I can only find them for the 500 series, which from what I have read is incompatible.

I want to take my 835 ATS and make it into a home defense shotgun when I have it at home.

Of course some would say, just buy another shotgun that has the 18 1/2" barrel and pistol grip, which might just happen down the road.

I google-fu-ed up some stuff because I didn't know the answer, but the question interested me. Here's what they say on the firing line:

It depends on the length of the 590 barrel. Due to the length of the magazine tube on the 835, an 18.5" 590 barrel will fit, but a 20" barrel will not.......

I was looking for an 18.5" 590 barrel to go on my 835 when I got lucky and found an actual 18.5" 835 barrel with a 3-1/2" chamber on GunBroker for about $80.00. The Mossberg part number for the 18.5" 835 barrel is #90823 and you might be able to order it directly from them.

The 18.5" "Breacher" style barrel for the model 500 Tactical Cruiser will fit on an 835, but I am not sure what one of those cost....

I can't verify the info, but it's a start, anyway.

Looks like that one is special order only, but it may be worth your money to get a used 24" barrel (looks like they're going for 75 bucks on gunbroker) and have it cut down to 18.5.
