I do not want to hear a Mr. Knowitall's answer, I am simply looking for people's opinions on this.

    Marlin 1894 SS .357 mag
    Marlin 1894 SS .44 mag
Remmington 1100 12 gauge smooth bore slug barrel
Remmington 1100 20 rifled slug barrel

Those are my 4 options for deer hunting this year, what in your opinion is my best choice? I will be carry my tarus judge with hollow points for anything close fyi, for fun!

20ga with rifled barrel would be sweet.

if you want to gun hunt in more seasons, a .50cal muzzle loader is cheap and buys you another couple of weeks.

I've used the bottom two before and they both worked well, but I've gotten bored with them over the years. I wish I could use my Mauser. :(

really? i have honestly had the best luck with my marlin's and shooting hornaday leverevolutions through them but maybe by the sounds of it i need to look into more of my shotguns, hell i have a mossberg and a super X@ to choose from also if everyone is into shotguns and not rifles

absolutly no reason your lever gun wont work. if you are shooting mostly close range they may even be better. imo the 44 is a 125yd gun. a 20 ga slug out of a rifled barrel might be able to strech that a little, plus you dont have to hit quite so perfect with a 20 ga comparred to a 44.

    just my opinion

I would chose the 44 first then the 20 gauge but that is because I am more comfortable with the rifle verse the shotgun. I would not even consider the others as options with these on the table

With a good load that the Marlin's shoot well I'd take either one of them.

My wife uses a Ruger 77/44 (44mag), when she doesn't use her Remington 870 Youth Cantilever in 20g.

I use to carry an 1187 12 g. but changed to the 1187 20g., and was absolutely stunned with the superior performance of the 20g slugs, over the 12 g.

I just wish I had as many different slugs for my 20, as I do my 12.

In the 77/44, which I carry at times,:DI use leverevolution 225g bullets from Hornady. In both of the 20g. shotguns, we use Winchester Supreme Rackmasters, and they are fantastic.

I could use the super sabot type slugs, but I'd rather have super accuracy at the cost of a bit of speed.:yesway:

.44 ...... great deer getter and practice ammo can be had pretty cheap compared to sabot slugs you would be putting through the rifled 12 or 20. If there had to be a second choice it would be the 20.
