I found a good deal on a sub MOA marked Weatherby Vanguard in 308 a couple weeks ago. The trigger had a lot (to me) of slop in it. I adjusted it out to where it breaks nicely but now the safety won't go on.

Anyone worked on these before? It doesn't slam fire and passes a smack on the butt test but the safety was working before.

Was thinking of getting a timney or something but don't want to spend any more I guess.

Buy the Timney. Their installation is straight forward and they will be an improvement over what you had / have.

The problem with your current trigger is also straight forward. If you can't figure it out by looking at what is going on you'd best skip further trigger jobs. Besides, you'll spend the next 2 hours stoning parts to end up with something only almost as good as a Remington you could've adjusted in 2 minutes with an eyeglass screwdriver.
