As the name suggests the plan is to build my 9mm AR, to eventually be a 5"-7" SBR, and a can down the line.

Either way, this is my first build, first AR and having a fun time!

I will post pictures tomorrow, but so far the lower is complete, just finishing the upper.

    Lower:
    CMMG Mk4
    CMMG two-stage trigger
    JP yellow springs
    Magpul trigger guard
    Magpul B.A.D.
    Magpul ASAP
    Milspec receiver tube
    Spikes T9x buffer
    Spikes Enhanced mag block
    VLTOR MODSTOCK
    ERGO grip

So far its been fun, with a little polish and the new springs the trigger is excellent and the fit and finish was perfect!

Upper: (ordered as of saturday the 15th)
VLTOR MUR-1S (no need for the forward assist
    BCM Gunfighter v.3 extended handle
    Standard A2 rear detach site
    CMMG Ramped BCG
VLTOR rail system or some similar rail system (not ordered)
Standard 16" 9mm barrel with front post sight (not ordered)

So the upper should be the bee's knees, just have to decide on what companies barrel assembly, the rail system and the compensator or flash hider. Then on to an optic, looking at an aimpoint micro or similar on a cantilever. :D

This AR stuff is fun! Much cheaper than my TJ. Just sold my ARB locker for the upper stuff lol. But can't wait to have it completely built. Stay tuned! beowulf upper later, for my hunting fix ;) BTW, i used to MILSIM or Airsoft but in the larger, tactical enhanced games. Used to run TT rig with belt rig, 6 mags, safariland for my Beretta 92 RSS lanyard and the works. Had an $600 Navy Sopmod replica from King Arms and used an knock off Eotech. Loved that sport, but got just as expensive as real guns!

    Thanks again :yesway:

Well got the upper in, the BCG, the a2 sight, the mag block, the ST9x buffer and some new JP yellows on the trigger.

Next week the barrel and most likely a MI 7 or 9" free float.

Looking good. You'll love that ST-9X buffer. As far as mags, look no farther than Metalform. I'm running a 5" Tros tri-lug barrel on mine and love it. Anxiously awaiting the ATF to mail my form 1 back so I can take the pistol receiver extension off, and put on a CTR.

Your lower is designated as a pistol correct? So once your form comes back youll throw a stock on there?

I'd love to just buy my 7" barrel, but my lower isnt designated pistol. So i'm going with a 16" first, while i wait for my Form 1.

My lower isn't marked "pistol", but the form was filled in as "other" when I did the 4473 at the dealer. Most dealers do it this way when you buy a stripped lower, because they don't know what your going to build. The rule as I understand it, is you can turn a rifle into a pistol, but not a pistol into a rifle. Confusing I know.

Mine has always had the shorty barrel and pistol receiver extension, but I think it makes more sense to have it as a standard carbine while waiting on your form 1.

Definitely go with the metal form. The Cprod's suck no consistency in feeding. Another thing to keep in mind is to buy some cheap uzi mags from cdnn an either mod them yourself or have someone cut'm for ya. Makes a nice easy fix.

Sorry on the long awaited finish to the build.

It's all done, started another Jeep project so I didn't get to deck it out fully yet with the rail and optic I want.

But it is done, ran about 3,000 rounds through it and no misfires, jams or stoves. BTW, ive been running the pro mags with great luck. I love my Metal form but for half the price the pro mags are seating well and feeding perfectly. But I can see how they will eventually pull apart at the seam when loaded.

And... I broke my first mag catch latch. Just like I heard these 9mm's do. The new one is working fantastically though! :thumb:

Well just bought the optic I've been wanting for awhile from 40calpunisher. Thanks Joe!

Its a Trijicon RX01-23 which comes with the arms lever mount and cowitsnesses with my standard A2 sights perfectly.

So with that the last thing on the list to buy a rail system, would love a CASV. Anyways, here's the pictures :thumb:

    WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its you can turn a pistol into a rifle but not a rifle into a pistol!
But of course the pistol would have to have a barrel over 16" or it would be a sbr.

I think I may have found the answer to my question by the last comment before mine but here goes. I am working on building an AR9 rifle. I will purchase a 9mm upper but I was looking into using my rock river lower. I would have to add a mag block for glock mags and I am finding either a 9mm buffer spacer or a new buffer it self. My main question is could
I purchase a complete pistol lower and then change the tube to a carbine tube and add a heavier buffer for a dedicated lower would it work. Changing a pistol lower to a rifle is or
    isn't possible?
