I just got my factory barrel threaded and had the front sight reinstalled. I am buying a suppressor and wanted to get the barrel threaded but didn't want to lose my sights. I've not heard of anyone doing this but found Jim at Ofishel Gunworks in gosport to do it for me. I get it back Friday and I will post some pics.

I just read you thread. I didn't know you was doing this. You asked what i was charged, it was $120 with the thread protector and the sight was not put on with a set screw, it is pressed on so it can not spin on me.

Thanks, that is where I am at with my pricing as well. Only there are no set screws.

The first time I read your thread I thought I read something about a set screw but it said screw it on. I didn't think $120 for taking it apart, threading it, cleaning up the gun, and reassembling it was bad.

Nice looking job. Is the front sight usable? Hard to tell from the pic. First glance says no? Just curious. I have several Bull Barrels i need to get threaded but not sights are involved.

That's a Kestrel 5.56 in the pic above. For some reason I can't get the Huntertown site to work to get the Kestrel dimensions.
    A Huntertown Guardian 22 is 1" diameter.

Your right and I think the sight is hidden by about an 1/8 of an inch so I think with the gaurdian you would be fine. I can use the kestrel on my gsg 1911and still barely see the sights.

It looks like a set of Tech Sights would work with that suppresor. They are taller than stock sights by noticeable amount, but right now I don't know the height of them.

The gunsmith said he could get a taller sight and make it work but I figure I have about 6 months to worry about that.

I just measured the stock and Tech sights. Measured from the top of the bead to the top of the dove tail. I used a dial caliper. Give or take a few thousands.

    Stock .325

    Tech . 765

Tech's are much taller and cooler :-)

I would say .440 would clear the can. I will have Jim get me one.
