those rings look SUPER tall... but doenst look like you have enough clearance to go any lower.... if it were mine, i would add a stockpack or ANYTHING that would raise my cheek to stock weld a bit more comforitable and consistant.

I think they are peep rings, for seeing the open sights...and maybe he has a big head...don't make fun of him, for being big boned!

Wow nice looking rifle. How do you like that .17HMR? I am thinking about getting one.

    Thank you!
I like the 17hmr its a great little round for punching holes in paper and on a different platform than I have would make an excellent squirrel gun,my savage is just a bit heavy for luggin around the woods. fast, accurate and fairly inexpensive what more coul ya ask for!:rockwoot:

Yeah I have been thinking about getting one down the road sometime. I'm looking at either th Savage 93R17BTV or the Marlin Model 917VT. I like them both. But anyway yours is a sweet looking rifle.

Actually they are low rings, but the mounts are quite high. I cant go any lower unless I want to run into bolt clearance issues. So for now it works. Once I get it rebarreled ill be changing that set up. But its not really as high as it looks, and it sets good for me.

This rifle looks great, What length is the tacsol? Out of curiosity, How much would this set up cost?

its a 20 inch barrel... and the setup is pricey
    trigger 200
    stock 79
    action/bolt 200
    barrel 180
    rings 50
    scope 300
its pretty far up there... and i have spent a good amount of time tweeking it... but here is a 15 shot group at 25 yards shot today. note i puposly didnt shoot the middle because i didnt want to shoot out my point of aim.
