Well I'm considering getting my friend one of these as a gift and was wondering if $150 was a good price on a Chinese t53 model or $200 on another. Good condition and with a lament stock and the original. Guys, be nice because I'm a handgun guy all day long and know nothing about these guns.

Actually, $150 is a GOOD price on a T53 in good condition. Do the (major) numbers match?
Well the t53 is now gone but what about on the other? It comes with a laminate stock and the original stock that's been cut down. It's an m44

$200 for a good condition a M44 or a T53 in good shape is fair.

Not sure where you live but bradis has a large selection of the 91/30's, the full size ones, and I think some t53s. For around 169.

$200 for any common-caliber full-power rifle in good shape is a good deal, if you ask me. I've bought Mosins at anywhere from $120 for a force-matched 91/30 to $200 for a Hex Tula to $300 for a mixed Westinghouse, and felt like I got a good deal on all of them.

If you find an M44 in good shape for $250 or less, snap it up. T53's are basically the same rifle, but $50-100 less in value.

91/59's can be found below $200 so that seems to be the high floor. The carbines pull in more but not a lot more depending on the carbine. I paid 175 a few years ago for a T53, no import mark, that had a mismatched butt plate but it was made the same year and month I was so I picked it up. $250 is probably a decent price now for the M38, 91/59, or M44 with the 91/38 harder to find and higher in price and T53 lower. Not sure why the T53 is lower but maybe because there were so many imported that were in poorer shape.

Not so sure I would pay $200 for the one with the cut down and replaced stock.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Hard to find a nice looking T53, but oddly enough, the bores are usually pretty good. The stocks are usually just rough.

My $60 T53...non-import marked. It keyholes at 25yrds...haha.

Nice score. Here is my $175 T53. Again, I would not have bought it if it were not made the same year and month I was.

I have a 1945 Izzy m44. It's nice, like new money. A guy was carrying it around the 1500. Got it for $75.

But that was about 15 years ago. About the same time I got my mk4 enfield for $50 ;)

We have several M44s in stock at the moment, both laminate stock (arsenal replacement, not commercial aftermarket) and standard. They are fairly expensive, but still well south of $300. We also have some 91/30s in, too, running between $159 and $229.

I wouldn't pay over 75 for a mosin anything. They seem to be going up and so is the demand for some reason.

I have seen so many people dump all kinds of cash into these things only to still have a clunker rifle that wont shoot.

I would be looking at used Savage if I were you. One hole groups out of the box. Handi rifles are cheap.
