So I've been waiting about 7 years, and they're back! I'm incredibly confused though... You may notice that the factory SBR is around $700.00 more expensive than the 16" barrel version. Clay, wabbit, TT, etc, explain please. I figure I can get a smith to chop it for way less. And go!

edit: it's supposed to say "107"... Frikkin iPhone

Exactly, so what the hell? How do you charge 700 more for less (less barrel)? The 16 incher is cheaper than the 1700-2200 people were trying to get from used 10yr old 16"URs. I did notice that with the SBR you get the beer can flash hider. I don't thing that's worth several hundred bones though.

When I got that email tonight, I almost didn't open it because I knew it was going to cost me some serious cabbage. I agree that they are charging quite a bit for the convenience of not doing it yourself. But that said, what does it cost to have the barrel cut / crowned, engraving done, and then toss in another hundred for the 4 piece booster? It definitely would be more collectible buying the completed gun, but I would think one would probably come out ahead by getting the goofy looking version and hiring the work done.

because they can, and they will sell. Sure there is some additional labor, maybe an extra $100 or $200, but the rest of it is because it's a factory SBR. It will carry a bit more value just because of that, and the rest is just K-var being k-var ;)

and if you guys ever went to the akforum or the ak files you would have known this on Monday, and they start taking pre-orders on Tuesday over the phone. ;)

according to them this is a small run of 300 rifles come here in 2 batches. K-var anticipates the first batch to sell out by Monday.

Before these came in, an SLR-107UR would sell for up to $2K, so yes, these are expensive, but they will only go up in value....... now the question is, do you buy 1 or 2?!?!?!?! :):

This kills me. I have wanted a 107UR to SBR for years but they could not be found or were (what I thought was) ridiculously expensive. So I now have a Mini Draco which I plan to SBR with a VZ58 stock (7.5" barrel) and a Yugo Krink with a triangle side folder which currently has a faux suppressor but will eventually be SBR'd with it's 10.5" barrel. So while I paid too much for the Yugo, I will be into the Mini for under $800, tax and all.

So please convince me I need ANOTHER rifle to eventually SBR for $1,400.

What is Rule #1, k? Right, to look cool.

When you sell a gun what are you selling? Right, the coolness. That's why INGO has a 10,000 page thread to a stupid polymer pistol that was featured in a Hollywood comic book movie. That's why the stupid, feckless shorter barrels are more money as they are endowed with that much more coolness. Guys will pay $700, and many times that, to convince themelves that they are cool.

Anyone know if the non sbr version has the gas reducer thingy for the longer barrel? That might be a game changer as I don't want to pull the FS block and drill anything.

I've went back on forth on it, and kind of think I'd rather have the 104UR first just because I have a mountain of ammo. Then again, maybe I should just do both, haha :smileak:

problem is, right now you can buy a 107UR pretty easy....... 104UR, not so much. Been sold out for a while now.

Yes, the orifice is installed in the gas block on the long barreled option. I'm not scared ;)

Not to thread Jack, but I know where there is an M92 at a gun shop that has been SBR'd. They want $1100. Yeah. I guess they figure someone will walk in with more cash than sense and pay the extra $600.
